View Full Version : shoulder pads
While I know shoulder pads are generally not accepted when playing in-line, I recently had a shoulder injury and should start wearing them. Does anyone have a suggestions for a very lightweight pair of shoulder pads suitable for in-line? Mos ice hockey shoulder pads are just too bulky...
thanks much

Check out the Sherwood Classics. THey should run you around 30 bucks and are pretty light. GRanted, if you were playing in an all out goon league ( uhl, ohl, etc.), you would not want to wear those. At the inline level, they are just fine.
Its not fun until PIHA starts up again....

U18's in my league in da Uk r forced to wear shoulder pads so i just bought this tshirt thing from hockeymonkey. Its made by tour and is a tshirt with pads sewn into it. Its made specifically for inline hockey and is very lightweight u almost forgot u wearing it but it is surprisingly protective too. i would recommend this to any1 who wants shoulder pads for inline hockey.
thanks guys. Those both look like good options.

My sympathy about the shoulder injury I have had a few myself, as well as the reconstructive surgery. First off, what kind of shoulder injury was it, because shoulder pads may not be able to help, as they were not beneficial in my case. If I were to recommend pads I would say buy some kind of lacross shoulder pads. Warrior or Brine, they are light weight pads that give good protection. But please respond with any info on the injury so I can help more.
Fortunately, it is not serious enough to require surgery.
Sorry to hear about your injury.
I have a mildly torn rotator cuff.
The adult league I play in, be it non-checking, gets pretty physical. I just wanted to add some protection to help with going into the boards and general contact.

Here is the unfortunate bad news. I also tore my rotator cuff and my surgeon and therapist said the only thing that will help is to keep the shoulder stationary. Shoulder pads don't really do much because you now have a vulnerable motion that you shoulder will come out of socket at.

get the tour chest protector. it is specially designed for inline hockey, and it has protection for the shoulders, too. it is alot better than those huge shoulder pads for ice.
