I heard yesterday that there will be no Sacramento Saxons or Oakland teams. Is this true. Does this mean no Teams in Norcal or no teams anywhere in Ca.

My son plays for the Sacramento Saxons and he was told yesterday that there would be no team. He is actively looking for a new team in Norcal. If anyone knows of a team looking for a player in Norcal please post here and he will get back to you. Does any one know why the Sacto Saxons folded?

We (Sacramento Saxons owners/mgmt.) were ready to go this season - we had new sponsors, an agreement with a great facility, returning players eager to start, tryouts in the works - everything looked promising. Then things beyond our control happened. Two Nor-Cal teams previously believed to also be ready opted out. That left a 5-team conference with teams in Colorado, Arizona, LA, Fresno and Sacramento. Teams from the East volunteered to come out here to help fill the schedule but even that couldn't alter the simple fact that travel costs would be astronomical for us. We simply don't have the financial backing to meet the travel demands that would have been required. We are hoping to have a few exhibition games/mini-tourneys in certain cities this season and are working toward returning next year with a full Western Conference. As Western Conference Champs, noone is more disappointed than we are that we're not able to defend our title. All I can say is that we sure tried....

It's a real shame but I'd rather see no West than a POOR West where teams don't finish the season or just fall apart because of the reasons you mentioned. It takes alot of guts to stop when everything in you wants to keep going. I know first hand about that. Keep the faith! There is next year to plan. Frodo lives!

I am sure that is true - after all the effort you guys have spent, along with the anticipation of looking forward to the season.
