First, the good news. I've finished writing my book on Roller Hockey International!

It took me a lot longer than I expected it to, but that's because I continued to receive great (many were absolutely hilarious) stories from the people I interviewed. And almost every person I interviewed suggested someone else I just HAD to interview. After talking to more than 160 people, I realized that there were even more people who would have been good to interview, but I had to cut off the process at some point or I'd never finish.

Now I've got to find a publisher. I've researched self-publishing and print-on-demand options, and I might still go that route, but first I'm going to continue trying to acquire a traditional publisher. I've got a lot of color photographs and artwork and RHI memorabilia that I want used in the book, and many ebook publishers don't use color artwork or limit it.

Here's the Table of Contents; it should give you an idea of the direction I took and a hint of the amount of humor in the book:

Chapter 1: “We Never had an Opening-Night Crowd that Big”
Chapter 2: The Malevolent Vacuum-Cleaner Attachment
Chapter 3: “I’ve Been Waiting for Your Call”
Chapter 4: “As You Know, I Invented the Rollerblade.”
Chapter 5: “Who is this Bizarre Human Being?”
Chapter 6: “These Quad Skaters are Driving Me Up the Wall”
Chapter 7: Sell the Sizzle Not the Steak
Chapter 8: A Convergence of Opportunity
Chapter 9: “We Were Just Winging It”
Chapter 10: “Roller Hockey, What a Joke!”
Chapter 11: “We Played that Game on Adrenaline Itself”
Chapter 12: The Brotherhood
Chapter 13: “That’s the Secret, Boys. Aqua Net!”
Chapter 14: “A Pyramid Scheme and a Crucial Mistake”
Chapter 15: “His Face is so Flat, He Could Bite a Wall”
Chapter 16: Teammates, Tough Guys and Toughest Opponents
Chapter 17: “The Whole Puck Fiasco”
Chapter 18: “We Want the Chick!”
Chapter 19: “Beep, Beep, and So Long, Charlie”
Chapter 20: “We’re the Guys With the Picks and Shovels”
Chapter 21: “Maybe the Ghosts Are True”
Chapter 22: Owners, GMs and Coaches; RHI’s Front-Office Characters
Chapter 23: “Slurpee Machine at 7-11”
Chapter 24: “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished”
Chapter 25: “Rinky-Dink Hockey International”
Chapter 26: Honey, I Shrunk the League!
Chapter 27: “I was Extremely Proud to Be a Part of that Team”
Chapter 28: In the Movies: RHI players on the Silver Screen
Chapter 29: A Great Rivalry
Chapter 30: “Sometimes You Only Get One Kick at the Cat”
Chapter 31: “One Part Slapshot, One Part Marx Brothers, and One Part Spinal Tap”
Chapter 32: “It’ll Be Baywatch on Wheels”
Chapter 33: “It was as if Somebody had Run Over His Dog”
Chapter 34: “It Couldn’t Have Been Better if We’d Scripted It”
Chapter 35: RHI Personalities
Chapter 36: Aftermath: Will There Ever Be Another RHI?
Chapter 37: Addendum – RHI Standings and Statistics

I let Inline Hockey Central become damaged because of my focus on the book, and I hope to rebuild the site with Jon Niola's help in the upcoming months.

Thank you for your continued patience and support! If you have any connections with print publishing companies that might be interested in publishing my book, please e-mail me at [email protected]. Thank you.

Well, I'm not sure what you needed, but I'm glad you got it.

It's amazing to me that the writing was finished last October, but the book has been in the art director's hands forever. We're getting close now, though!

I've received payment for 36 books and have "pledges" for 27 more, making it 63 books "sold," so time is running out to get one of the first 100 signed, personalized, numbered and shipped (in North America) copies.

    All the best,

    Richard
