(continued from previous post)...Obviously having their GM ref the game was a conflict of interest and the amount of penalty minutes assessed was just ridiculous. Despite many emails and testimonials from players and parents from the SE Mafia, the MLRH board decided to suspend our coach for the season as well as giving two of our players 5 game suspensions. The Bucs, recieved no suspensions. So despite being the only team to have paid in full at the time we decided as a team to withdraw from the league and only play the AIHL as the syndicate. Sorry to rant, but the league is just a joke. The Aihl is so much better run and the hockey is far superior... Hope that helps answer your question. Billy Gabelman
The SE Mafia decided to back out of the league after a ridiculous decision by the MLRH board. After beating the florida fusion 11-4 at the first festival, we went up to Greenville to play the SC Buccaneers. They didnt have any officials so the game was officated by doug jones (the GM/coach) of the Bucaneers. The Bucs played total goon hockey and were not being called for anything. The officials threw out three of our players in the first half, and ejected our coach/gm. Afterwards the league suspended out coach/GM Ronnie Williams for a year. Despite be being beat by the Florida fusion by 5 and 6 goals the prior weekend the Bucs managed to tie us 2-2. I know all games are different but it was just absolutely ridiculous to drive out of state to play another team and them not have officials for the game. (see next message)
