The Interscholastic Hockey Federation has done wonders for inline hockey in the past few years, and much of that success has been due to the hard work of Jay Piz, one of IHC's regular Forum contributors.
The current home page of the IHF illustrates how much Jay and his cohorts have accomplished in just the past few months, in chronological order. Scroll down the page (http://www.ihf-hockey.org/) to February 12 and 13 and you'll see "A salute to the IHF 2010-11 Champions," with photos of the winning teams in seven different divisions.
Scroll down a little more, and you'll see that the California State Cup High School Roller Hockey Championships are rapidly approaching:
"The State Cup returns again in 2011 to The 949 Roller Hockey Center and is scheduled for March 5-6, 2011. The Tournament team fee is $549. High School and Middle School Teams will be competing in five divisions in this tournament:
VARSITY - for Elite, Advanced Skill Teams
JUNIOR VARSITY 1 - for Intermediate to Advanced Skill Teams
JUNIOR VARSITY 2 - for Beginner to Intermediate Skill Teams
FROSH-SOPH - Open to Freshmen and Sophomores Only
MIDDLE SCHOOL / JUNIOR HIGH.
All Divisions open to Co-op / Combo teams (Teams comprised of one or more players from more than one school). For updates, simply check the State Cup website and the State Cup page on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/IHF-Hi...48595245158340.
Sadly, Jay Piz will soon be retiring from the IHA. I hope everyone who knows Jay (and even those who don't) will give him a big thank you when you see his posts on InlineHockeyCentral.com.
Thank you.
