NJ players

I live in central New Jersey. Princeton area. Only leagues I know of right now seem to be north jersey. Extremes in Bridgewater and Rexxplexx at the Elizabeth Seaport are two that come to mind.

You guys know of any other leagues worth considering?

I am interested, I am inthe Edison Woodbridge Area... Other leagues are at Center Circle Rahway and Inman Sports Club in Edison.

Are you familiar with Good Sports in Aberdeen? I never been there and don't know much about it, but it may be worth looking at.

I am not a big fan of that rink. I think bridgewater, inman, and rahway are all alot better and nicer.

Actually they all seem to be good facilities, but I know Bridgewater is run by a guy deeply involved with hockey and they have a strong local adult following there.

I am not saying the others dont though, I am just more aware of the one at Extremes. Brian Troholiday who is their manager plays in the pro leagues and is pretty plugged in. Most of their players on their adult/pro team - which is competitive - are local, which speaks well for their house program.

Yeah, I have to agree with you. I played at Bridgewater from 97-99 and I always thought the level of play there was pretty strong. Some of the Adult C teams there could hold their own with B and A at other rinks.

On the downside is the games themselves. Two 20 minute halves with no stop clock is kind of lame. Time flies by way too fast and I always thought they should just do three 15 minute periods instead since it would better fill out the hour.

I also have to say that the officiating there is hot and cold. On some games we have great officials who were really on the ball, but I remember this one official who was horrible. He spent half the game leaning over the boards talking to some chick. She was hot so I can't entirely blame him, but I got tripped up twice and he missed both :)

I never played at Inman, but is it true that it is just a wooden floor? That stuff is a PAIN to skate on. No matter what indoor wheels you use, (Grippers, Formula G, etc) that floor is like using your wheels on ice :)

As far as the ref complaints go I dont know - I think that's inherent to most refereed sports. Maybe it was a certain ref that ended up playing defense for the NJ Bullets - if so - be patient - he needs all the extra time he can get to chat up the ladies. /wtimages/icons/smile.gif

Inman and Rahway are both sport court. A MLRH team plays at both of them (can't remember which team)

Actually two teams - NJ Bullets at Inman, and Scorpions (maybe now defunct??) at Rahweh.

Where in Edison is Inman? I think I may go over to check it out. I want to get a team going in one of these leagues. I have already line up an awesome goalie. He played ice in the ECHL for a few years and now he is looking to play some rec inline just to keep in shape and have some fun.

If anyone wants to play, most likely in central NJ, please let me know and we will start getting things going.

Preferrably players who would also be interested in playing in tournaments here and there for a little extra fun :)

You may have to look it up on the computor, but it is on Inman Avenue and part of the Inman Sports Complex. It is not really in the town of Edison although everyone refers to it that way.

Coming off 287 take exit 5 , and turn left if coming south or right if coming north. Just North of 287 take your first right at the light (imediately after the westbound/northbound ramp from 287). This is Hamilton Blvd. Follow to the end, and make a left. Stay on this road(it has various names as you proceed) until about 1/2 mile after the second overpass you will go across (the first one is just after you turned left at the light). There will be a Duncan Donuts on your right just before the light. Turn right at this light. Follow this road for a couple of miles - you will pass through I believe three stop lights, and after the last one there will be a golf course on your left. (just after the second light there will be a Rite Aid drug store) Once through the last light go about 1/4 mile and take your first right - this will be Inman Ave. Go about 2 miles - past a shopping center on your right. There will be a stop light right after you pass the shopping center. Continue on Inman Ave. about 1/3 mile and you will see a golf practice range on the left. The entrance into the Inman Sports Club is just past there - first left. You will see a small mini mall with another Dunkin Donuts on the corner where you make this left. Follow this road about 1/4 mile and the rink is on the right.

There is also Instant Replay in Morristown. I thinks its taken on some nice changes recently. Last I heard Sonny Kim and crew have made the move there.

Well I know Rahway & Edison has nice rinks. I know GoodSports has 2 men's divisions. Monday's & Wednesday's. Both nights have alot of teams. Mondays has 18 teams and wed has 12 teams. So you should think about playing at GoodSports one of those nights

I've been looking to join a team, I've been playing on and off in Rahway due to the fact it's close. Used to play just about everywhere around here. And yeah, Sonny's up at morristown 'cause he got thrown out of rahway when he was the hockey director, he's up there with Tad now.

Sorry Jon I think I might have been the ref you are talking about, thank goodness I no longer officiate! Just to let you guys know the competition in the "A" league is the best it has been for awhile with about 20 guys with MLRH experience and a bunch of others that play high level tournaments.
A few changes have been made to make the games even more competitive such as stop time on all power plays, stop time in the last 2 minutes of each half (as long as the score is within 2 goals) and a 4 minute sudden death overtime. To top it all off the "A" league is only $140 for 11 games plus playoffs and the 1st and 2nd place teams receive a discount on their next seasons league fee!
