The Nations-Tobin Polar Bears' all-girls teams from El Paso, Texas are looking for a couple of skaters who would like to join the team to participate in the USA Hockey Inline Youth National Championships.

This year, players from outside a team's home league may join to play in the tournament. May not be the case next year...

You can check the USA Hockey website, www.usahockey.com/inline, for particulars regarding the July 30-August 6 event in Atlanta.

Our 12's team needs two skaters born '90-'94. Our 17's team needs two skaters born in '85-'89. We note that girls playing on the 17's team are also eligible to play with us at the USA Hockey Inline Cup (the adult nationals) in September, in Las Vegas.

The player portion of the team entry fee is $75. Each player is handling their own travel expenses, but we have pooling-type resources to maybe help in some circumstances. Our team philosphy is to win or lose as a team...every player plays in rotation in all parts of every game, period.

Please contact coach Dan through this board, or email at [email protected]..

Love to have you come to the party with us. Hope to see you out on the blue floor...

Hey Dan - I still have two girls that I think would be great for the team. One is offense and one is defense. I am having a little trouble getting them onboard. Any idea how I can get them off the fence?

Kathy:

Yep, and my question to them is, "what's important to you in playing this game???"

I would bet, in terms of, playing the game at a high level of competition, the fun of travel, learning how to play the game at a high tactical level, the fun of teammate friendship (a real big one around here), recognition that, as a hockey player, you are someone VERY special...whatever their personal reasons for liking to play this game, they can have the experience of their lives this year with the Polar Bears...This summer, girl hockey players have the ability to participate in experiences that might never come around again...

Kathy: send me their emails, if able, and I will attempt a bombardment-of-happy-information that might work...

Thanks!

P.S. did Megan hook up with a TORHS team??? we are planning to do that tournament next year as well...

Catch you soon...

No. We did not get hooked up with a TORHS team, so she is going to an ice training camp in Minnesota instead. However, looks like she is playing at NARCh in Florida now. I checked the block schedule and it does not conflict with Georgia. See you in Colorado in a few weeks! I will forward the e-mails to your e-mail address later.

We want to thank the dozen or so players and parents who made inquiries about the Polar Bears. We have completed our roster with players from several cities in Texas, and even Robin Quinn, from England will be joining us!

Obviously, we thank Richard Graham -yet, again- for this internet communications site. This has produced a set of opportunities for several dedicated, committed girl hockey players that just might turn into the best summer of their young lives.

Once again, we hope to see all of our sister teams, both experienced, and newly formed, both ice and inline, out on the blue floor in Alpharetta this August.
