Undiscovered hotbeds?

What would you say are the top 5 areas/cities that have yet to have their inline hockey tapped into by a quality rink, or a rink at all for that matter.

Northern VA is emerging as a pretty good place to play inline hockey. There are several nice facilities, and some high school teams. The greater Philly area is obviously one of the best, they have so many rinks and so much interest, its hard to compete with them.

Las Vegas, Nv vould use a second rink which I am working on between school, work, and UNLV roller hocky.We onlyhave one floor to play on because the2nd floor is ice.

Yes to support your perspective the Allentown Bethlehen Easton area does not have one modern inline facility. This is a metro area of slightly less than a million people and not one dedicated inline rink. Not to demean the efforts made by the Skateaway facilities in Whitehall and Reading who have fielded youth teams that won gold and silver national medals in USARS in the mid nineties and continue to run strong adult leagues, but this region is in dire need of a new inline facility.

Don't know as I've heard of one in the greater Wilkes Barre / Scranton area either - which both have strong ice hockey populations.

As I live in Stroudsburg about equidistant form both areas (approx. 40 miles) I would love to see one up here, but the local playing population would not necessarily be large enough to support it. But with a good facility we could draw from NW N. Jersey, WB, and ABE.

Dude, what are you talking about? There isn't even a travel league anymore. How are you going to build a hockey movement without a travel league? What "nice" facilities are you talking about? Slapshotz is alright but is half gymnastics and has NO showers. This just furthers my points on the other board.

Northern New Jersey could use a quality rink. Something I have been looking into. Bergen County has 800,000+ residents, and could also draw from Rockland County, NY, New York City and Southern Connecticut.

Virginia Beach could use a good rink! It is the highest populated city in Virginia and the only rinks a "Family Skating Centers" that we play hockey in. No real boards, no glass. Its pretty crappy. We had 1 rink for like 3 seasons when they froze it over because "Ice attracts more people"

Ever played at the rink in Chantilly? There's lots of other rinks around VA, but you'd much rather just go ballistic than consider a rational thought once in a while. There is a hell of alot more Roller Hockey in Northern VA than in lots of other places. While it might be no Long Island, its certainly becoming an area of interest. Some exceptional teams came out of VA. The Maple Leafs from Annandale? But they don't matter because they don't support your hot headed, I hate everything, pissed off at the world agenda.

Dude, I played on the Maple Leafs for a few tournaments. Chantilly blows. Is the only thing you qualify as a good rink is the fact that it has to be indoors? You know absolutely nothing about hockey. Do you know where the Maple Leafs started? Try the Fairfax Sportsplex back in the day (when Virginia actually had a travel program). If TORHS and NARCh didn't continue to raise the maximum age at their tournaments, you couldn't even include the Maple Leafs in any of this. Virginia won't see anymore talent like them ever again. So if you're talking about Virginia roller hockey's potential to become a "hotbed" like 4 or 5 years ago, then maybe you're right.

Face it, Virginia travel hockey died when the Sportsplex closed.

I'd consider a hotbed to be an area who is bringing top contending roller hockey teams. The Maple Leafs never have finished in any top 7 spot at NARCh Plat or TORHS. Here are hot spot areas (in no suggested order) just so you can stop being a retard. And no, I don't hate everything in roller hockey. I think there is a lot of good going on in the sport but uneducated retards like you and the rest of ECRHA are spoiling everything because you obvious can't figure out where high quality roller hockey is played (and probably don't even know what it looks like). Maybe you should try to play somewhere and actually figure out logical answers to questions like this (all these regions actually have logical reasons for being hot beds).

1. NY/NJ/PA
2. Michigan
3. Cali
4. Florida (falling off the chart in the world of roller hockey but still continue to bring top 3 teams every year)
5. St Louis area
6. Texas (though it's falling off the chart)

I am always plugging for a 2nd rink in Las Vegas. One day it will happen. A place i think a rink will do goodis down round Laughlin and Bullhead city. Espically for the people in northern Arizona and the people in Laughlin. It could also be a good place to host a tournament. This is my opinion and if anyone else feels it is a good idea ad your input.

You guys are so lucky... I live about 60 miles from Toronto which has a great facility, but it's the only one for 300 miles. Between Detroit and Toronto there are many many great teams and leagues. Talk about a hotbed with no facilities.

I would have to say after being all over the country that.. Delaware... yes Delaware is easily an undiscovered hotbed .. when you guys were talking about these "hotbeds" How can you justify them by travel team and national status? I thought the topic was "undiscovered"? Delaware isnt totally undiscovered thanks to a few players like Jay Yokum (glads tender), Ron Tracy (mlrh MVP) and myself Chris Street (who has led mlrh in scoring at 2 points in my career b4 injuries)... and we're just a tip of the iceberg when it comes players who have played out/ came from DE.. The blue diamond blades and they won the NARHL a couple years back as well.. mostly DE players.. but other than all that.. DE is pretty undiscovered but, having going to or seeing almost every region in the country play, I would put a select team of DE players against any area in the nation. Bold statement? maybe.. but I believe it to be true. The best area in the country is the PA/ NJ/ DE area.. not cali and michigan.. the pro leagues have proven that the last few years .. bottom line.. the east coast is the dominant area of the country

the MD-DC area needs a good rink the closest thing we have is the sportsplex in frederick md and chantilly va 2 of the worse rinks in the world the gradens ice house in laurel md is one of the best rinks(ice) on the east coast but they only put the flite deck down for like 4 months. and on another note its about time you got rid of brian.

I am assuming you think I play for the Bandits, I don't want to get toop far into the details but I'll just say that the guyw ho runs/ran the team and me had a 'falling out' about 1 1/2 years ago.
