Having read about curving sticks in the other thread, I was interested in what results are achieved by different curves i.e. what is the benefit of a "heel curve" or what does an open twist at the toe accomplish?

Curve on the stick is a personal preference........some, like Brian Leetch, like a heel curve, guys like Yzerman like a big hook. It all depends on what you prefer.

curves depend a lot on your style of play and/or position
Ever see guys like Graves and LeClair? its like a 9 iron..but it allows them to roof the puck easier and some will say faster..both use open faces on the end..allowing them to either use leverage to roof it straight up..or use the toe if needed and in close to help do the same..

D may have a flat back half of the blade with the toe curved so when they shoot they can still be accurate with a snapshot yet can easily manuever the puck on their backhand when defending their own zone..

There seems to be a move towards more open curves..with a slant on the blade..which helps get around any max curve issues as well..the days of the big Montreal European curves seem to be dwindling..personally i need a stick that is a bit closed face, the blade comes back over a bit on the top..to help control my bad habits and keep some accuracy on shots/passes..
