In case some of you were not there at U.S. Blades for the Finals or dont have a clue what you are talking about. We did try and chase behind the net while going to the strong side. Many times we had to give up the 4 on 3. I know all of you are the best roller hockey coaches in the nation and thats why you scouted for the NHL or coached Major Junior A in Canada or helped Pick Team USA (MSU Coach)
Simple facts are that we had some good games in the regular season vs. Lindenwood. By all means they do have the talent and the depth that everyone would love to have. They are simply a machine, they can send 3 lines at you and wear you out until you cant skate anymore then bury 5 goals in the last 3 minutes on you. They have done this many times.
It is pretty obvious that they could win without just sitting behind the net. They have more skill and speed than any team in the country. They know that and we know that. Now as far as making CRHL fun and being a club sport where we all used to be friends, those days have gone the wayside. Sending out a player on a face-off with a junk stick in order to break Mackerts synergy is sad in my eyes. Its so sad to see such a nice stick shatter in two. Nor do they have to use stick work and slashes so often that more than 2 CRHL refs told me if "we called every penalty we would be here for 5 hours for one game. We have to let some stuff go...we have families to get home too" they have the talent to pass, shoot, and score without breaking 3 ribs of one of our guys, one wrist, one knee, sending out a player to fight or break a stick.
I would like to say that when we first went to Lindenwood and played our first two games against them we did not do so well. We had no idea what to expect and we were a little intimidated by the T.V. and the cheerleaders and the big fan base. We did lose by a good margin both games. But then a few months later in Michigan we did grow as a team and came together to only lose by 4 goals in both games and kept it fairly tight throughout the game until about 4 or 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. This is where the depth and talent killed us. It was great to see some of the rookies and players who didnt play much increase the level of their play and gain that growing experience.
I know that it is not the fault of the lindenwood players, hence the conversations I had with a couple of them... I just wish some of the people who whine and cry and complain on this board could educate themselves before opening their mouth without knowing the facts or being there. I would like to thank Mike and Dante for all the memories. Rod I hope your ACL heals well
