View Full Version : What is the best wheel

I am looking to by new wheels for my skates(Bauer Vapor 2), becasue im not staisfied with the wheels that came with the skate. I am either looking to buy the Labeda Millenium Grippers or the Kryptonics Wicked Sticky wheels. I play on a tile sport court surface. If anyone has some advice as to which wheels they find to be the best id apreciate it.

I would say that neither of those are the best hockey wheel for sport court. Matter of fact, I don't even think they're in my top 5. I've heard from many people about the outer durometer portion of wicked sticky's simply shredding off, sometimes during first use! The Millenium Gripper is, in my book, overpriced and overrated, and I've also heard their great grip doesn't last very long.
The best wheels I've tried so far (only tried 3) are the old school Labeda Gripper (white-soft). They were better all around than the Mr. Sticky's and Hyper Assualt G's I tried.
I've heard great things about the Trinity wheel from a guy I know who has them, and also about Red Star Sniper wheels, both supposedly excellent.
I hear the Stiletto wheels I'm getting with skates aren't the greatest, and I'm planning on buying Trinity's...but soft-white labeda grippers get my vote.

I would suggest reading some of the reviews in IHC's Gear Up section, as well as keeping an eye on it. We plan on offering more reviews of inline hockey product as time becomes easier to find.

Wheels, like all equipment, are really a matter of personal choice, however, it seems to me that the new 74A durometer wheels are wearing out very quickly. My kid refs inline and he has had to rotate wheels after 10 - 12 games. They are very good initially but seem to get shredded very quickly after that. He weighs 165 lbs.
