Hi Folks,

Just kidding.

However, I am surprised at how dead this message board has been recently. What's up? Is the board intimidating for some reason? I find it easy to use, but then, I'm biased. :)

What topics are you interested in discussing? Let me know. Let's get this message board rocking again.

Sincerely,

Richard Graham

Well, Rich

I'll comment. I don't know why things are so quiet these days, but personally I hate this new board format. I am not knocking the site, only this board. There are so many more user friendly boards out there. Heres a link to a style of board I think is better, www.miataforum.com/cgi-bin/ultimate.cgi , it is for a Miata web board, but forget the content, just look at the way they handle their message board, each topic is in a folder, and when you access that folder, all the posts are opened at once, it makes it a lot easier to follow the threads you care about. I have always liked this board, but now I hardly come here, maybe there are others that feel the same way.

If I can I would also like to suggest a user reveiw board for different hockey products. It would have to be moderated so you don't get the "V forms suck posts" that tell you nothing. E Puck has a good system for products they carry. Readers can submit reveiws, and as long as they are articulate and discuss the product, it gets posted. The problem with Epuck is they only do it for products they carry. If you would like to read others reveiws of V Forms or Eastons or something, you are out of luck. Anyway thats just my opinion, I hope you found some of it helpful, it was not meant in a derogatory fashion, at all.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your candor. I appreciate it.

I agree with you that some people dislike this message board, and that's probably the reason traffic on it is down.

I also agree that the previous message board was more "user friendly." However, I don't know if you remember the personal attacks and spam that that board generated. I'll never forget, as I spent half of my time on IHC monitoring the message board. It was a nightmare.

With this board, if someone really gets out of hand, their posting privileges can be pulled. In the three or four months that this board has been in use, I've only had to use that function twice, and it has allowed me to create a lot more editorial content for Inline Hockey Central, instead of having to babysit the message board.

I do believe that this board has the capability of having each topic in a folder. Personally, I've disliked that style because I have to read every post, and that means I'm opening up a lot of different folders all the time. However, if that's something that would improve the message board for IHC's readers, I'm all for it.

As for the user review board, it's an idea that I'll kick around. Having one message board to monitor is enough for the moment. LOL. :)

I appreciate your post and I found it to be very helpful. Thanks, Chris!

If other readers have suggestions on how to improve the current message board (I'm not quite prepared to switch to a new one at this time), I'm listening.

Sincerely,

Hello,

You do have the ability to customize the look of the board to suit your taste. I am very familiar with other message board software, and I still feel that the software we use is the most versatile, powerful and user friendly.

For example, in the screen you are looking at now, click on the 'Flat' button in the upper right corner, and the board will change to flat mode. This displays all posts at once. You can customize many other aspects of the board in your 'Display Preferences' which can be found in the "Edit Profile" link at the top of the page.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Justin,

Thanks for the info. I have set the board up with my preferences, and now for me it is a lot better.
Thanks Again.

Well!!!!

In the wee hours of Saturday morning North American time, the Sydney Olympics will kick off with that internationally recognized sport, "Team handball".

While the boys down under are busy whacking their balls around, you have to wonder what the dynamic leadership of our sport will be doing?

Hmmm.
