Hey guys, I have tried many different ways of cleaning my bearings and my skates. Any suggestion on how to get he dust and rust out to the bearings. I play a few times a week so my skates get dirty quick. any suggestions will help

If you dont already do this - try it if you can. If your bearings have a dual dust shield, remove one of them - and leave it off. Saturate the bearings with a cleaner - or even just regular old WD 40, and spin them until they seem to be free. If they dont come free try using an electric air pump with a ball fill needle - (with tip cut off) to blow them out. When they are clean the force of the air will spin the race very rapidly. Add just a little lite oil - like "3 in one" and then give another little shot of WD-40 to thin this oil even farther. They will be as free as they ever can be if the bearing is not damaged. If you get a lot of dust rapidly, or rust appears quickly - you must dry your skates after using - dont leave them in the bag. Perspiration is very caustic (acidic) and will eat up the bearings - particularily minis. Also this humidity will make the dust adhere to the bearings.

Note - if you play outdoors and have bearings with double dust shields - just leave them on and spray regularily with WD 40 then wipe them clean. Some of the WD 40 will seep by the dust shield, and cut the original lube - which tends to be heavy and harden causing the bearings to run rough.

I do the same thing, only with some citrus cleaner though.
