I'm a 23 year old Californian moving to Chicago the end of this month. I'm an experienced player (10 years, Narch, CRHL), needing information about roller hockey in and around Chicago. Mostly I'd like to know where the better rinks and leagues are located. What choices do I have? Anyone from Chicago on this board that can point me in the right direction? Any teams looking for an experienced player? I'd like to avoid resorting to ice hockey. Please e-mail any information to

thanks

I live in Chicago, downtown. There's nothing downtown in the winter as far as roller hockey goes. In the summer there's a rink (not the best) that opens actually right on North Avenue beach. It's a fun, very unorganized league with a few talented players. It's not top of the line or anything. If you're interested in ice hockey, Johnny's Ice House on Madison (near the UC) is the place to go. But they won't have new leagues starting until next season. If by chance you find a place I have not mentioned, please post it on here, I'd be interested in finding a place to play. I'm hurting for one.

hey bro,
if youre lookin to play, they have rat hockey friday nights at hat trick hockey in palatine for like 8 bucks or something..they have a bar too, and rat goes for like 4 hours or something like that...its a good deal...so if theyres a bunch of people playing, you can have a few while youre in between shifts...also theres a rink in elgin too...right off of I-90 and randall road. its pretty sweet too, but i dunno about rat hockey anymore. in addition, well be playin sometime over christmas break, that is if youre home at all....if im correct, you play for lindenwood, cuz we got into a scuffle when msu played ya...i was number 66. i was the ankle bender that weighs like 25 pounds soakin wet...but we always have a good time....i also have seen that rink at north ave beach..its fun to watch the hunnies run by in the summer, but thats about the only time you can play out there..i used to live in lincoln park, so i know where a lot of stuff downtown...anyways, keep me posted..we may be renting the rink over break, so give me a hollar if you wanna come out....thanks homes,
bones

If you're near downtown Chicago. I run an adult and youth program just outside the city in Berwyn, Illinois. www.illinoisinlinehockey.com. Level of play is across the board. I've got elite skaters from the ChillDawgz who've won four NHL Breakout Championships and who lost to Team Red Star in the Championship game at this years Invitational in Rhode Island. I also have beginner adult camps.
This is a brand new (one-year) outside rink. 185 x 85 poured concrete. It is a USARS sanctioned league. The seasons run spring through fall. If you need more information check out the site and send me an email.
