Mission Skates

Just bought a pair of new Mission Proto SV skates. No one at the store had any specs. I believe they were 2001 model since the graphic looks different. They are lime green instead of that purple one. I need to know the ABEC rating and wheel durometer. I also want to know if they are Skate Bake friendly. Anyone who knows anything about Mission Skates, please respond. Thanks.

Well...it's like this. The best place to find "true" info is to check with the people who made it. So check out http://www.missionrh.com and look at all the mission stuff there! I am sure you can find out anything you want from them. Or you can email them your specific question. Hope this helps. I found that if you ask here you may not get all the info you need, since no-one knows exactly what you bought. I myself have 1999 Mission Proto V's, and I love em. They came with the boss v'8s rated as an abec5.. although abec ratings are good, they tend NOT to be all that important for a skate. laters, j-bo

Why dont you try taking off one of the wheels and looking at it... Usually the wheel durometer is written right on the wheel itself, in the form of 78A, or something of the sort. The lower the number the softer the wheel. Also, in taking off the wheel, you expose the bearing to your eye-sight. Usually the abec rating of the bearing is written on the side of the bearing as well.. like ABEC 1 or so....

Proto V's have to be the lowest quality of skates I have ever worn.
I purchased them less than 9 months ago, and I have already had to
replace the chassis twice (on warranty) and the boot twice
(also on warranty). The chassis is two-piece, designed to hold no
more than 120 lbs. The thing is weilded in five spots on the whole
skate. I understand that this is the low end for mission skates, but
for $200? come on... I hear the expensive stuff is better, but if you
feel that the Proto V's are good skates, try the drill where you have
your stick on the ground and you jump over it on one leg, back and
forth for a about 5 minutes- and have your "Mission" Warranty detp't
phone number ready.

Well, I guess there are some people who just destroy skates somehow. I weigh 205lbs. and haven't had a problem with my Missions. So your claim as the frame is "weight limited" for 120 seems silly. And for the price I paid ($135 brand new, closeout deal) there wasn't a better skate for my dough at the time. The wheels weren't so special (kuzak kontaks) but everything else has been great. laters, j-bo
