Keep your eyes peeled for a new line of wheels from Rink Rat hockey. I spoke extensively with their rep Michael Hunt recently, as well as received a test set of wheels, and was very impressed with everything he had to say. First off, let me state that I'm in no way paid or compensated by Rink Rat for this writeup. I just enjoy giving credit where credit is due.

This wheel features a fully-patented proprietary technology that makes the wheel seem to grip to the surface, and propel you in the direction you want to go. I skated on these wheels just a few times, yet I don't seem to have put a dent in them. I'm 5'10, 175 lbs, considered a smaller, faster player. I need a wheel that will allow me to use my speed and agility to beat the opponent. Stopping was great; I could stop hard and fast, as in ice hockey. There was no sliding or anything. The pick up after stopping was equally impressive. Getting to a loose puck in the corner was much easier and I was more confident because I knew I could get in and out faster without fear of anyone getting a step on me.

If you're like me, you're probably saying "Bah, I can do all that stuff with my current top-of-the-line wheel." Trust me, I had my preferred wheel that works too. I took it off my skates in order to try Rink Rat's. I honestly feel I reached a higher level of agility while skating on Rink Rat wheels; I was hooked.

Rink Rat was at the Broomall, PA TORHS America regional this past weekend. They have assembled a new Pro team that is skating in the $75,000 TORHS America Pro Series. The team features a combination of players who have formerly skated with the Tour Mudcats, Bauer Hyper Cyclones, and teams in the Professional Inline Hockey Association and MLRH. They looked pretty damn sharp for their first time playing. Hunt also pointed out a slew of other top Pro teams with players that are wearing the wheels already and who couldn't stop saying good things about them.

Rink Rat should be at many, if not all of the TORHS America regionals, as well as other roller hockey events. They are handing out wheels to players in all age groups to evaluate, as well as giveaways throughout the tournaments (thats how I got mine). I think they set a release date of January for retail sales. Talk to Michael if you get a chance and tell him you read this and want to know more and he'll show you what its all about. These guys definitely have a potentially huge product on their hands.

i couldn't have said it better myself. i'm glad you liked the wheels. they are definitely the new revolution. i'm not a wheel guy. it usually doesn't matter what wheel i skate on, but after being on these all that has changed. i feel much more confident stopping and the rebound (stop and start) on these wheels is amazing. i am a big guy and skated 5 games on them last weekend and a couple of other times this week and they look like i skated on them once. the release date should be around the supershow in vegas during narch winters. they may be available a little earlier. i will keep you posted.

i think the price is going to be right around that of the dynasty's. i guarantee that they will be worth every penny. i was skating on the dynastys before these and there is NO comparison.

any update on when and where available? I see where hockey giant has dynastys for 7.95 and tempted but the reviews on these new wheels is holding me back. You guys that have tried, do you think they beat the dynasty?

I am curious to find out the same thing, it would take a great wheel to top the dynastys though.

there is absolutely no comparison. these wheels are unbelievable. i am a big guy and have been skating on them non-stop since november and they are not wearing like my dynastys did. you can check out the website at www.rinkratwheels.com. they will be at the supershow in vegas and then they will be available for retail. i should have more info after the beginning of the year. we have a tourney in feasterville the 4th and 5th of january. i'll keep you guys in the loop.

Has anybody used the green "soft" dynastys and the red "x-soft" dynastys. If so do the green hold up much longer. Anyways my red dynastys are starting to wear slightly after a month of use so I plan to try out the rick rat wheel if they hold up that well.

I concur with Mr. player. The wheels are definitely worth the wait. There has been only one negative thing I have seen said about them, by someone who hasn't skated on them and who has sponsorship obligations towards a competitive manufacturer. So we know where he was coming from.

i have worn the green dynasty's and they wear pretty quick for me, but i'm a pretty big guy. hold off and try the rink rats though. i think you will be impressed. if you are anywhere near the philly area pop over to the sportsplex in feasterville on saturday or sunday. we will be there. speed demon, are you playing with anyone this weekend?

Yeah I should be playing with Skinny Puppy, although work might keep me from attending the whole weekend anyways. We were thinking of trying Pro but... not everyone can committ, in fact we just finally got organized today! Damn work...

Hi Justin,

Just curious. Does team Rink Rat play in NARCh tournaments? If not, why not? (I think I know the answer, but I want to make sure.)

Rink Rat will be playing Pro at Winternationals as a Silver sponsor as far as I know. I'm not playing for them.

Gotcha. As long as your team is an official sponsor, you can have a company-sponsored team, right? Is it the same at TORHS?

No, TORHS Pro is open to any team that thinks they're capable of playing in the Pro division. However, with teams like the Tour Mudcats, Empire Snipers and Rink Rat in there, you better know what you're doing before entering that division!

Empire Snipers has a "pro" team now?

I'm assuming that the Mission Labeda Snipers are them. Keeping in mind, any team can enter Pro, so it might just be some of the top juniors plus some coaches. However, Mike Cianfrani is/was a Sniper, so if he plays with them, there goes the odds.

I would guess that the Sniper 'pro' team is going to be made up of a bunch of the guys on the D1 (under 23) squad they have, along with some other products of the organization.
Oh, and yeah, Mike is good.
