I just skated on Tuesday night at practice with a torn ACL as well as some meniscus tears in my right knee. The lure of roller hockey is too much to deny ;)
So, who's going to push my wheelchair around when I'm older? :)

If you can shoot and handle the stick with little pain i would play.

All demands on how you feel on that day

I've never broken a finger but I've come away with some badly bruised ones. I would say try it, but I guarantee you'll know right away whether you can handle the pain or not upon taking your first shot, since your thumb is actively involved in gripping the stick when shooting.

I just got back from the OSU medical center and the finger isnt broken...i dislocated the thumb then fractured the socket...its about a millimeter deep and a dentimeter long and should take 5-15 days to heal then they pop it back in to placce..i have figured out a way to hold my stick so i can play with my busted thumb as it is my bottom hand. thanks for your input.. i do plan on playing, however tylenol maybe help me a little ;)

As a longtime coach, I suggest you follow the doctors instructions and rest up for the duration. You are young and will heal fairly quickly. Unless your'e getting paid huge dollars to play.... you will actually hurt your team by playing. Without proper care, this type of injury will re-occur from time to time. Bite the bullet and rest...Your teammates will understand and probably dig in a liitle harder to fill in the slack. Best of luck

Hi Bobobee,
Gotta agree with you here. I can still tell the weather in advance by my right hand, broken in a fight (purely defensive, I assure you) in college. /wtimages/icons/shocked.gif
Columbus, if you want to be the star that's in your handle, discretion is the better part of valor.

Sorry I wasn't trying to complain/whine I was just wondering if anyone would reccomend playing. The people I talked to locally didn't have any good advice and i figured I could get some good advice on here. Which I did. Thanks guys!

Hi Columbus_RHStar,
I didn't feel you were complaining or whining; I thought it was pretty gutsy to want to play with that sort of injury.
I just don't want you to make it worse. Unless you're getting a big salary to play, I'd suggest your health is a bigger priority than making the game... /wtimages/icons/wink.gif
