Any news on professional hockey? Is the MLRH ever going to start the actual professional league? Is ANYONE going to start a professional league? I'm dying for a roller hockey team to follow.

Rich told me that all he was referring to was a league in Michigan that was talked about in 2000. Not exactly a nationwide pro league.

I got a propaganda letter from [someone] the other day that he sent out to alot of people who were at the tryouts last May. This guy is unbelievable. This letter is something to behold. He states he is starting up his league again. You have to read it. If you leave me your email address I will try to forward it to anyone who wants it.
Webmaster's Note: The person(s) mentioned in the letter have been edited out. Last year, IHC's Editor initiated a policy of using no space on IHC for the discussion of these person(s) or the league they are associated with for various legal reasons. If you know your stuff, I know it's not hard to figure out who it is that's being talked about, but please do not contribute to the discussion here.

There is currently a league in Michigan called Michigan Premere Roller Hockey. The MPRH doesn't have much money but they had problems from the get go due to the damage another league that I won't mention here. Still dispite the problems they are still playing games. Their website is at mprh.elitesites.org . They may not have cash or flash but they are keeping things alive so to speak!
Mr. Goalie
P.S. I have the letter you were talking about, hillarious!

The MPRH is being run by a guy name Jim Matte. Jim and I have spoken on the phone several times and he seems to be a genuine, straight-forward guy. His plan is to start small, with a low-budget league, and hopefully next summer he will have built some kind of following. Once this occurs, they will step it up a notch.
What a novel idea. Start small and reasonable, then try to grow. Hmmmm, seems pretty radical.
Unlike past leagues that have promised everything with little results, Jim is the kind of guy that might actually get this whole "pro" thing moving.
I encourage everyone to give him your support.
P.S. I don't play in this league or have anything to do with it. I just think he's doing it right.

Jim contacted me to play in his league however I live out of state and have a full time job so could not commit to his league but spoke with him at length on the phone and agree that he has good intentions and wish him the best. He has already out done Killbreath with just having an exhibition game. I hope his league does well and someday and can tend the pipes for him. Until then I hope and pray that Pro roller hockey can get its head above water.

I'm not sure where some of you get your facts, perhaps the other 572 subscribers to this Message Board. Some Great Lakes Pro League teams have played as many as 10 games since last May in preparing for the "Kickoff Tour" that's currently under way in Michigan, Illinois, Ontario and Wisconsin. Please get informed and visit our Web Site: http://www.esportsdesk.com/xhi

Very cute. It's no wonder that the powers to be of Extreme Hockey International are giving me a hard time over getting the news out on web sites, such as this one. Pro roller hockey is a tough sell folks, as evidenced the failures of Major League Roller Hockey and RHI. A lot of people are expecting XHI to step in and supply huge player salaries and they are mad that it isn't happening. Our league operators are committed to common sense budgets, meaning players get paid according to how well ticket sales and advertising sales go. As for your crack about our so-called propoganda letter, how do we win? We are criticized for not making people aware of what's going on. I'm hired to help XHI do a better job of getting%

Was the end of my comment edited? As for your propoganda crack, how do we win? We are criticized for not letting people know what's going on, then I'm hired to help XHI do a better job of letting people know what's going on, and we get ripped for that. Go figure. I'm Michael Joseph, Director of Public Relations for Extreme Hockey International. Who are you, except a wimp hiding behind an anonymous message board? Or do you rip XHI because none of the teams wanted you?

look Michael I have done heard from you via email and you seem to be doing a good job about getting the word out but I my self would have to travel almost 400 mile's to tryout for a league that I dont know enough about so I will wait untill I learn more and see how things will fair out.
This is what I am talking about... How in the world do you call yourself a "public relations director" when you send out derogatory comments such as this....XHI.. well.. if I was the "powers that be"... would can your butt immediately....maybe you might want to look up what "relations" actually means...shame on you! j-bo..

This new pro league seems to be doomed to failure from the very beginning. When I think of professional roller hockey, I think of the game now being played in high school and college leagues across the country, and in major tournaments such as NARCh. I don't think of Pro Beach with it's ramps or this 3rd quarter checking and shoot-out nonsense. The game needs to be brought together at all levels with the same rules. You must build any league (especially pro) from the bottom-up. Any league at such a high level must rely on it's foundation, which in this case would be popular amateur tournaments such as NARCh and the college and high school leagues. These 3rd quarter rules and other promotional stunts will not attract the fan-base and capital that you intend it to. Try building a league from the ground up, starting off small. Promotional stunts such as this are only doomed to fail in the end.
