The Towson University Roller Hockey Club is looking for a coach for our Division I team. This team will be participating in Division I of the Eastern Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (ECRHA); this league is also affiliated with the Collegiate Roller Hockey League (CRHL). In the upcoming season, we will be competing against teams such as Boston University, Penn State, Northeastern University, University of Vermont, University of Maryland, and University of Delaware. In August 2002, the CRHL announced its alliance with USA Hockey InLine. This alliance will allow for rule standardization, referee training and joint marketing efforts. The CRHL has intentions of becoming affiliated with the NCAA and creating NCAA Roller Hockey. Roller Hockey is also going to be held in the 2008 Olympics.
This coaching position is not a paid position but it could be in the near future with the membership with the NCAA. As the coach, you will be responsible for selecting the team, running practices, and normal coaching responsibilities during games. The governing body of the Roller Hockey Club will handle all the financial aspects. The club will fund for and provide money towards transportation to games and hotel rooms will also be funded for.
The team consists of all students from all across the US. The players on the Division I team are already competing at the semi-pro level; we attended the TORHS Nationals and lost in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Our team is seeking the guidance of someone that knows the game of ice and or roller hockey to guide our team to a national championship in the CRHL and eventually compete in the NCAA.
