Saw the posting on Manny Legace and I couldn't resist...
Peter Skudra, former netminder for the St. Louis Vipers, was signed by the Buffalo Sabres recently. This happened when Dominik Hasek went down with an injury in the season opener last week. Back-up Martin Biron is still holding out, so the Sabres needed someone with some NHL experience. Enter Skudra...a backup for the Penguins last season.
With Hasek now back, the Sabres have sent Skudra down to Rochester for a 2-week conditioning stint.
Just thought I'd pass that on to the faithful readers...especially Gary Griffaw and the rest of his St. Louis cronies!!!
Sincerely,
John Hopkins

Hi John,
I didn't miss it. I was expecting an IHC reader to help me out on the Message Board and my faith was rewarded.

Yo,
Glen played last year for the Capitals too, and he was the highlight of many threads about roller hockey players who play professional ice hockey. So, in essence, we've visited him already. But there's always room for one more post! /wtimages/icons/wink.gif

Actually, I don't think Peter Skudra ever played for the Vipers. It looks like he played for the Oklahoma Coyotes in 1996. This is the only RHI experience I found for him.

Hey, John,
Cronies? This is how you refer to the best fans in RHI history? If I took anything seriously, I'd be offended! ;^>
I have to agree with Gary on this one. I don't ever remember Skudra playing for the Snakes. And there's no mention of him playing for them in the Internet Hockey DataBase, and they're pretty comprehensive.
Still basking in the glow of the 1999 Murphy Cup Champion St. Louis Vipers,

(We HAVE to bask in that glow; The Cardinals are 18 years and counting from their last World Series title, the Blues will probably never win The Cup in my natural or medically prolonged lifespan, and January is a long way off for another Rams Super Bowl win!)

I stand corrected. (or, I SIT corrected). Chalk that up to a brain burp at 2:30 in the morning. :)
I just happened to recall that he was on the cover of the RHI programs last season (1999).
BTW: Crony, according to Funk & Wagnall's Standard Dictionary, means "friend". It comes from the greek work "chronios", which means "contempoary".
If you have something against being called a "Crony", well then you have issues!! ;)
Probably stems from pro roller hockey withdrawal...something I suffered immensely from this past summer.
