K-State will be opening their new rink this week-end with an inter-regional event. We'd like to especially thank the two out of region teams, Texas State and Colorado @ Colorado Springs, for agreeing to help open our new facility on campus. We will also be hosting Washington U, Missouri S & T, and Maryville U. We are hoping to make this a great event for all the teams and hopefully our students on campus. I'd like to thank the GPCIHL and NCRHA for their support in helping to make this rink possible.
Our first game will feature the ROTC Color Guard and Willie the Wildcat along with a special ceremonial puck drop and extended breaks between periods to get audience participation with on court activities.
We still have some kinks to work out and they may not all be solved by this week-end's events, but the essentials are all covered. We have held 2 practices on the rink so far and it works quite well. Hopefully this will lead to a new chapter in the 17 year life of our club.
