Age Catagories [Archive] - Inline Hockey Central

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone can define for me the differant age catagories according to the iihf. i know there is like u14 u12 u16 etc but what is the actual cut off day for the season to be included in a particular grouping?
i hope i am being clear here.

I'm not quite sure about the cutoff that the IIHF uses, but if I had to make an educated guess, I would say December 31st of the current year.

Hi Oak_83,

SpeedDemon is correct. Rob Van Rijswijk (try saying that really fast five times) of the IIHF writes, "The player's age on December 31 will determine the age classification."

thanks guys.am just trying to figure the final part of the puzzle out though. iam now wondering so ....

is a kid who has their 15th birthday on the 28 december of the season running from oct-march eligable to play u14 in that season as they were 14 starting the season? or are they only eligable in a u15 or a u16 competition.
