Hey Keg, after attending the tournament as a spectator, i noticed that MSU may in fact have a run for their money and that they will definitely put an end to thier win streak! Eastern Michigan will definitely give them a challenge along with Purdue which in my opinion will avenge thier defeat of 2-0. University of michigan looks like theyve lost some talent or are not playing to thier ability, but will most likely improve as the season goes on. To tell you the truth i bet MSU will not repeat as divisional champions. Im interested to see what happens in two weeks when teams like EMU, ECC, COD, UofM, and Purdue visit Ann Arbor play MSU. Im definitely thinking upsets! Hey mighty MacMillan, if you attended, what is your opinion in the matter?

I will respond to this only because I was called upon :)
I think several factors point to the scores of the MSU games. Last year in the season opener in Fort Wayne the scores where rather low as well. No need to go into excuses though. It was 4 w's -- which is all we wanted.
My honest opinion is that this may be the best team MSU has ever fielded -- so I would not get to intense on predictions to the contrary yet. They are young and need to learn the system, but they have what it takes. Only time will tell and as always -- what happens on the court determines a teams greatness so that is where we intend to prove it.

to the dynamic duo,
yes i do agree with you, MSU has probably the greatest team ive ever seen in college inline hockey. furthermore, you guys honestly play a non ice hockey style of game which is basically the possession style of play which i think is the best strategy. This is due to the fact that if the other team cannot get the puck, then they cant win? plus you guys have one of the best men to coach youre team in Mr. Trembley who is a very wise man? believe me, i have the most respect for the entire MSU team because ive always wished i could play for you and experiece the fun just like everyone else. but i think the funniest thing is, is that everyone always roots for the team that mus is playing becuz nobody likes MSU because they always win? but its not becuz they dont like the individuals? anyways, i gotta run...talk to ya later, and good luck with the season.

Hi eccinline19,
This is great work you're doing, but can you please begin posting this sort of information in the new Tournament Results Message Board? I'd really appreciate it -- I want that Message Board to take off too. Thanks!
Sincerely,

It may be the best team as far as forwards and defenseman, but the goaltending for MSU looked pretty rough this weekend. When was the last time MSU beat Illinois, Purdue, and Ball State by scores of 4-3,2-1, and 6-2? I agree with ISU rollerboy. I think MSU will lose some games within the region this year.

ECC,
That's only until I transfer in next semester :) No, actually, in all seriousness, since when is 8 goals in 4 games (a 2.00GAA) a bad record for a roller goalie? . . I'm looking at the shot counts, and it seems that the goalies would even be over a .900 save percentage as well. Where's this weakness? MSU played some of the top teams in the division and came out 4-0. Although other teams definitely have improved, I don't see any letup in MSU's talent. If anything, the only way the gap between MSU and the rest of the pack will be shortened is by the improvement of other teams. The fact that the scores were closer is a GREAT sign for college roller hockey as a whole, though.

Mr. ECCinline19,
i understand what youre saying, however, when michigan state gets dante damiani back, they will be looking to terrorize teams with his and mackerts talents. they are both snipers and should be contratcted by a few local hitmen to do a little snipping? but anyways, i feel that MSU is not as good as last year, but yes they do have talent, however they did beat #2 ranked Purdue University team? and they beat the likes of U of I who has come up strongly this year even thought they went
0-3-1, but theyve improved. they also beat ISU by five goals whereas youre school only beat them by a goal? but before we all start quarreling? lets all hug, kiss and make up? because if my mothers told me that we should all be lovers and not fighters, lets do that? and we will all have a little fun and excitement? but ft. wayne was only one tournament, so will see what happens after the ann arbor tournament. if MSU continues to play great, theyll win a few more games? but the question is what will your school do(ECC)?

I appreciate your kind words. You are very correct about other teams rooting against us. At nationals, the place went nuts when Colorado State scored. We came from behind a couple times in that tourney, much to the dismay of the crowd. Typically however, a teams own region doesn't cheer against them....
What is being bounced back and forth on this board is that this year should really prove to be an exciting one in the CRHL-midwest region. Often recognized as the strongest region in the CRHL, having this type of competition will only make all of the teams stronger.
Best of luck to all teams and I anxiously await watching the games in Ann Arbor.

In answer to that, I watched the MSU/Illinois game and I think Illinois had 10-15 shots......that goals against has nothing to do with the goalie, it has to do with the system. MSU looked unbeatable last year. You went in thinking I hope we can win. All the teams I've talked to are saying they think they can beat MSU. So, we'll see what happens.

Just wondering Mike.....where did you find shot counts?? I'm just trying to figure out wh ythe site has my team at 2-2 when we are 3-1. I don't see anything with personal stats yet.

One more quick thing......since when is a schedule tough when three of your opponents combined for a record of 1-10-2?? Even with Purdue in there, they played teams with a combined 4-11-2. Doesn't sound to tough to me.
