I need to whine out loud for once.....
Last night my hockey team went into the playoffs the number 2 seed and on a 9 game winning streak.
We were favored to win it all baby! The team we played, the BeerHounds have never beaten us. They're a tough game because they're big and physical, but also one of the most penalized teams in league history.
Anywhoo... my team of smurf speedsters dominated the game in every aspect and controlled the puck about 75% of the time. The score was 5-0 until the last 3 minutes when they picked up a flukie goal.
No problem. However, the chippiness really picked up and we ended up not enough people to serve the penalties with only 1:45 left in the game.
Forfeit, Beerhounds win with a LOSING SCORE of 5-1 and advance to the Finals. Unbelievable.....

Thats pretty stupid but listen to this one. I play MLRH AAA for the Colorado Lightning and we were playing the Mile High Hornets (only undefeated team left in the country) and a teammate was high sticked in the face and was bleeding which should obviously be a penalty of 4:00 but it wasn't, it wasn't even called. While he was down with blood pouring from his nose the other team scored. That shouldn't count right? The refs in this league are ridiculous, they don't see anything and don't even know the rules. And guess what the final score of the game was 6-5, now thats pretty bad. If that high stick was called it would have been a tie game.

Well, there should have been a penalty, but if there isn't one called, and there is an injured player on the other team...and their opponants have the puck, the play must keep on untill the team of the injured player has the puck in their posession...kind of like a delayed penalty!

Should have been called though!

And you guys should have won that game, that is crap...5-1 and they make you forfeit!

A bunch of the guys in my league decided to call themselves the Salt Lake Fire last season and play some AAA. I'm sure you remember going double digits on them.

How many refs per game? We have 2... and it was the far ref who made the two calls that put us out of the game. Afterwards, he said that had he realized that the calls would have meant a forfeit, he would have let them go. I mean, hell... it was a playoff game! They were both ticky tacky tripping calls that the ref on the play "washed out". He also said he was trying to get the game under control..... but with less than 2 minutes remaining and the score 5-1? Let the game end and the let the scoreboard decide who advances, brah! anywhoo....

You're painting with a pretty broad brush. About 2000 miles to your east, in the Liberty division, we have our share of disagreements over calls, but I wouldn't nearly go so far as to say the refs are "ridiculous."
