Hey guys, I just joined up in hopes to get a little more info and become a better player! So far for skates I have always hit the local Big5:eek: and order wheels offline. I am now looking for a better skate because my current Cx3's are horrible! I feel like the boot bends over at the frame, like they can't support me when playing hard.
I am 6'0, about 190-200lbs. I ride 3 times a week, about 20hrs all together. I only ride at 1 rink, its got a coated/waxed wood floor, and we play aggressive. It's not hockey per'se, just rink skating, I guess? Mainly counter clock wise skating, but some cockwise, backwards, play tag, hockey stoping to show off ect..not truely hockey, but the same none the less. We play games like red light green light, going from 1 side of the rink to the other, so quicks starts & stops..races ect ect. Its basically skate as fast as possible, while avoiding other slower skaters, while playing tag lol. We just skate a big circle as fast as possible, playing tag.

I've always ridden Missions with the Hi-Lo setup. I started on Helium Quatro 3500's like 4 or 5 years ago, and tryed different wheels out...ended up loving the Labeda Milleniums for their price, but also because they grip & they last a decent amount of time. Had 2 pairs of the 3500's, then got some cheaper Mission Sx3's cause they were white & "looked" cooler. Bad mistake as I hate these skates, I feel sloppy in them, and again I feel like the boot & frame just can't support me.
I've always had the 72mm/80mm setup since I started skating & have been very fast, even was keeping up with my buddies 76mm/80mm setup when we race. I recently, about 2 months ago, put 76mm's on these Cx3's and it felt better to me..like I wasn't leaning so far forward & I was faster, now able to pass up and walk away from my buddy with a similar setup. And I didn't have to try as hard to maintain that speed. He couldn't catch me and I felt like it was easier to go, like easier to take off and run. He's on a set of Missions using 76/80 Lebeda Fusions.
I will never go back to the 72's now lol.

Tonight, (just got done skating at 8pm) I rode on a set of Tours my buddy brought for me. Tour Thor 909's, they ran all 80's. They have Lebeda Fusions as well. At first it felt funky because its the first time I rode the "straight line" setup of all 80mm wheels. But after a few laps of getting used to it, I was even faster, alot faster. But I felt I lost some maneuver-ability..
When putting my Missions, 76/80 setup I felt again like I was on my toes..leaning forward. The "straight line" setup felt more comfortable to me I guess.

My questions are whats the advantage here? Should I stick to the Hi-Lo 76/80 setup, or should I run the all 80's? I'm buying new skates this week and have to decide which setup is better for me...I have 4 pairs I'm deciding between, all in the 200-300 dollar range, no more Big5 30 dollar specials lol. Maybe you guys can help me decide? Some have the Hi-lo setup and the others are all 80mm's.

I'm looking at Tour Thor BX pro's.

Mission Axiom T6's

I'm really favoring the Gx9's for looks. My favorite color is green, and the skate setup just looks cool. I also like the Axiom T6's for looks, but I'm not basing this off looks at all, I'm trying to find the best skate for me. Idk if I should try out the "straight line" setup, or run another set of Hi-lo's. I've only ever ridden missions, until tonight.
Idk help me guys, give me some advice!

I NEVER ride anywhere else except this 1 wooden floor rink. Its just play skating, racing, tag ect. NEVER any outdoor play! 6'0, 190-200lbs.
