Howdy, all -

New to the forum. I've been playing for 1-2 years now, but am by no means a veteran. I'm still developing my skills and conditioning. Tips/tricks/workouts are all appreciated.

At any rate: I'm moving to the Bradenton/Sarastoa (Florida) area in July, and wanted to post a thread on here to see if anyone else plays around there, or knows of any groups/rinks/etc around the area.

All responses and feedback welcome, even if you're just harassing the noob that I am. :)

No replies yet. I did find two rinks in the area near where I'll be moving. - One in downtown Bradenton, and the other in an area called "Lakewood Ranch". I don't know anyone in the area, though - so its hard to find fellow puckheads.

Any ideas ?

Not sure about Brandenton, but there is a rink in Tampa (Universal Skating Center in Temple Terrace). They have D, C, and B leagues on Sundays.

Yeah I play there, good competition. Pickup games are 9pm Thursdays, usually go for an hour and a half.

If you want the name/number of the guy in charge send me a PM.

Hey all,

Thanks for the replies. Been down here in Bradenton/Sarasota for almost 4 months now. Maan, the weather is perfect.

The rink in Lakewood Ranch is clearly meant for the middle-school crowd. Three strides, and I'm across the whole rink. Its only 3 minutes from my place, though - so if I just wanna take some shots, its a nice place to sneak off to really quickly.

The PAL rink in downtown Bradenton is great. Full-size rink, smooth, lethally fast surface. Been there 4 or 5 times to skate and shoot. Haven't met anyone else there yet, though - so far, its just me skating by my lonesome and doing some drills.

There's an ice rink in Ellenton (15 mins away) that has full adult leagues, etc. I'm gonna HAVE to play some ice hockey, for sure. Buying my first set of skates in 2 days (c'mooon, paycheck!)

I'm open to driving to Tampa for a good game of puck. If anyone knows other puckheads that will skate at the Bradenton PAL rink, that'd be perfect.

Thanks, all.
