Ok, after a year of not playing hockey, it seems that my feet have changed their shape a little. I played a two hour pickup game last night, and now I can barely walk, my right foot is swollen, and both feet covered in blisters. (yeah, I know I should have called it quits when they started hurting, but oh well.)
Anyway, I want to get my skates re-baked, and I don't want to have to go to the rink to do it. I intend on sticking them in my oven here at home. On the mission site, it says skats are baked for 8 minutes, but I have no idea at what temp. Anyone know?
p.s.
Is this really a good idea? It seems like there should be no problem, but if you think I'm insane, tell me.

No offense that idea is absolutely insane....if you check out some threads on purehockey.net you will see how people made huge mistakes by sticking them in their oven..... my recomendation is to go to the rink, its the smartest and safest idea... you'll thank me later LOL!

Yeah, I have to agree with skatesafe.
Basically put, it is real easy to ruin a pair of skates doing it at home. I mean what would you rather do...pay $10 an get it done right and thats the end of it, or ruin a pair of $600 skates?
The Skate bake oven is different then the one you have at home. Your home oven works on convection, and this can wreck your skates, the ones at the hockey shops work on hot air.
Take it to the shop!

I agree with the other guys too. I don't know what your local shop/rink has, but try to find one with a CCM F.I.T. machine. Basically they bake your skates for 6-7 minutes, then you put on the warm skates, put your feet in the F.I.T. machine. It's kinda like a blood pressure thingy. It tightens up the skates real tight around your feet for about 10 minutes or so, and then when they cool off, you have a perfect molding of the contours of your foot in the skate boot. I did this with a pair of CCM 1152's but I'd assume this would work with any skates.

well i work in the pro shop at my rink, i put them in the mission skate bake oven for 5 minutes, take them out put them on the persons feet and tighten them as tight as possible, then leave them on for 15 mins without the chassis touching anything.... after that u put the wheels back on, but the only negative thing is u shouldnt wear them for 24 hrs because the chassis might bend and the molding might change...
