I know this is a busy time for ECRHA staff but why not wait until everyone finishes their regular season?
Also, there should be a club rep of the year, pretty much someone who does a lot for his team. Maybe the A.J. Frey Award?

To answer both of your questions:
1) To allow enough time for ordering/engraving/shipping of the awards. Plus some wiggle room in case of some type of problem/issue.
2) There are a few awards that are going to be awarded that won't have any public nominations, like the Team Rep Award/Coach of the Year. The rest of the awards will be announced when the finalists are announced next week.

With the current nominations I would have to say Anthony Ehinger. This player undoubtably helps his team the most. Without him they would be in a heap of trouble. Lucente didnt play for west chester last weekend and in my opinion they actually looked like a different team. Not necessarily saying they were better but it looked like the team may have actually been moving the puck better. My sons team wasnt playing but I was able to come see a few games. I saw them play neumann and rowan. I saw other players such as Jay Allen, Jack Grossman, and Kevin Keene really stepping up. THERE SHOULD BE MORE NOMINATIONS THEN JUST 1 PLAYER PER TEAM (IN MY OPINION). The better teams in the league such as WC and Neumann should have at least 2 or 3 different players up for nomination. But as for d1- Aj Ehinger without a doubt is the biggest help to his team.

have to agree with the above post, if you take lucente off WCU they are still a powerhouse, you remove Anthony from Neumann, they are mediocre, he does it all for them defense and offensively

I'd say that it is all true about Ehinger but the numbers that Lucente puts up even missing that weekend isn't comparable to anyone in the ECRHA in my opinion but those two should be the argument over the 5 of the nominees. But it was the same thing last year when Lucente played at Neumann.. Ehinger was a shadow of Lucente as he carried Neumann as far as he could take them. Not to mention Lucente has 3 first stars of the weekend and an All star MVP just something to factor in but two great players they both deserve it.

I think people are really underestimating how much Derek Blatchley means to the SBU offense he's one of the more well balanced players and he's got SBU sitting pretty in third place with little support outside of Zim and Kaszubski.

I guess it depends on how you look at the name of the award, POTY does that mean MVP to you or just who is the best player?
MVP- Ehinger
POTY- Lucente
Then again if it means best player, still have to look overall and I stay ehinger wins because of his ability to do everything for Neumann, while like we saw if u take lucente off WCU its still a sick team.
who are the other candidates?

Blatchery is a good player as well.. But you can not put him up there with Lucente and Ehinger.. Two narch platnuim high tier players. But just because Ehinger is not on a nearly good team as WCU is, shouldnt be just handed to him. I think with all the talent that WCU has and to see Lucente stand out over all the talent they have needs to be considered. Not just because Ehinger is the best on his team by far. Also, your not factoring in is if they didn't have a good goalie.. Ehinger would not be affective at all and they would lose a lot more games.

Agreed, it comes down to the voters looking at the award, MVP or POTY, example NFL Rodgers won the MVP but Brees had better stats so would breed be POTY if the award was named that?
More value to your team is ehinger, it shown last weekend that wcu without lucente still is stud team, just because you may be the best player on the best team doesn't mean your POTY or MVP.
Granted neumann has the better goalie out of them or wcu but without Ehinger point production they wouldn't be a high seed

Before this post I just want to say that I have been watching these players since they were in their youth and have NO bias towards any one of them. I would like to think I know a decent amount about the sport of roller hockey and this is just my unbiased opinion of what I see. I don't think you can really say that lucente "stands out" over all the other players on wcu. To me the top 3 scorers on wcu look VERY even. Just because a player is able to score goals does not necessarily make him a 'better' player then others. Alot of the games where he was able to get *7 or 8 points in a game were against teams that they beat by 13 goals. Don't get me wrong, lucente is a great goal scorer we all know this and even I said this at the beginning of the season. But some of the games I have seen that are close and physical he is not able to do alot and consistency seems to be an issue. For example, the all star weekend tournament he did not have a single point. When watching them play he just doesn't look "better" then the rest of the top players on wcu. Now aj on the other hand has consistently had good games every time.*
Here is the major difference, to me, between aj and John and the reason why aj should win. Aj plays BOTH sides of the rink. He is defensively VERY strong and offensively still able to put up points. Where as lucente plays questionable defense and has pretty inconsistent games. Don't get me wrong both elite players but aj deserves it this year. He has single handedly for the most part taken his team to be one of the top ones in the east. It is my opinion again that there should be some more options since I actually have a completely different idea of who the POTY award should go to but between these two I don't think there should be much debate. A defenseman who plays as much time as aj does and contributes both offensively and defensively as much as he does deserves this award. And besides if statistics are such an important factor to everyone we should wait til the end of the season as lucente isnt even leading the team anymore. After talking to a teammates father on wcu I understand that he may have violated a team rule but who knows. Anyway that is just my two cents. Good luck to all the nominees.

All interesting points and arguments, with that being said, all five nominations were based off a collection of different statistics/watching nearly 200+ games in DI/conversations with players, staff, etc. Only listing one player on a team is in an effort to share the recognition to all players in the league, some who may be overlooked/forgotten.
The actual selection of the 3 Finalists and the Eventual winner will be decided by the individual teams reps. 15 different people with an opinion on who they think deserves the honor. Right now the voting is extremely close with a few ballots still outstanding.

I dont like the nominations. and i know the league does its best and everyones going to have there own opinion and blah blah. But personally i think Culot is the 3rd best/most important player on his team behind Rosa and Occhicone (the goalie). And as far as Seyglinkski I dont know ive seen him play and played against him i think without him towson is still a average team, like they are with him but i guess i dont have a huge problem with him being there. Lucente and Blacthley both are leaders of premier teams in the east along with Ehinger even though WC just went 4-0 without Lucente I still think its crazy that Blacthley, Lucente, and Ehinger arent the three finalists.
I like the goalie picks i think those three should be there. And as far as the rivalry is concerned...I watched the Hofstra/Stonybrook game this yr at skate safe and anyone who was there will know what im talking about when i say there is no rivalry like Hof/SB.
Hair award has to go to that kid from binghamton though hands down.

I've seen Lucente in years past and Ehinger as recently as this weekend so I figured I'd weigh in.
To me Ehinger is a better player. I don't think GMU's #18 Harrison Murdock gets enough praise, as I have yet to see anyone with his speed even in the ECRHA. Like Ehringer Murdock plays solid defense and therefore doesn't get as many opportunities to be on the scoresheet as a forward would, although he has 46 points in 15 D1 games. Much like Neumann without Ehringer, GMU without #18 Harrison Murdock is just an above average team (He got kicked out for Headbutting in the Temple game and the GMU team that beat WCU and tied Neumann, ended up tying Temple and then tying Rowan with Murdock serving the suspenision).
I'm not taking anything away from Lucente, but personally I'd take Harrison Murdock and/or Anthony Ehringer.
