Seen a few 10-15 or so goal wins this and last year, but don't quite think I've seen one this bad ever.

Anyone know of a more lopsided game?

WCRHL has a mercy rule after two periods so this wouldn't happen in our region.. but there were a few 15-1 games that got called at the end of 2.

I've seen RIT back in the day absolutely thrash some teams by twenty goals in the mid 2000's but if you look around the NCRHA in DII it looks like there's a whole ton of shellacking going on. Northeastern, Pittsburgh, Binghamton, Slippery Rock, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Maryville, Kennesaw, Florida and Chico St. Are all clearly a step above the rest of the teams in the nation combined out scoring their opponents (in 4 or less games) 285-75. It's looking like the teams going to nationals are already rearing their heads after just one tournament.

Why?
Beating teams 29-1 is a great way to get them out of the league...

Also, you must keep in mind that the Michigan State B vs. Tiffin game was a cross-divisional game. Many Division III teams are newly-formed programs, from small schools, with limited draw and/or resources. There are not enough teams in a geographical area to have Division III teams play only within their division, so they'll be scheduled against other teams, at the discretion of the league.

Also many B Division teams have really developed over the last couple of years. Arizona State, Lindenwood, Michigan State (for example) all have extraordinary programs from top to bottom, and there are only so many spots available on the Division I teams. Their B teams may actually be the caliber of some Division I teams in their area. Check Lindenwood B's stats from last weekend against Division I (and other) opponents.

As NUHockey72 inferred, these teams are preparing for Nationals from Day One of the season. They may beat several teams by similar margins. But when they get to Nationals it will be anyone's game...

I'm aware of the B/D3 detail. If it's like last year, we played after Tiffin did one game, I think they had just four skaters and a goalie, against a full set of MSU B team players. Props to the Dragons though for showing up and fighting every game.

Anyways, with the D2 parity among the top and bottom teams, do you think it's an issue of the top teams just being that much better than the lower teams, the lower teams just be actually weaker, or a combination? I know we scrimmaged GVSU at the start of the year; we started off okay but ended up losing something like 9-2, so we're not quite competitive enough in D1.
