Westcoast Warrior Goes #1 in WHL Draft

Congratulations to Jake Virtanen on being the 1st overall pick in the 2011 Western Hockey League Player Draft!

The WHL draft is happening live on whl.ca this morning. The Calgary Hitmen made Jake the first pick of 2011.

Jake has played both ice and roller hockey growing up. He recently completed his final Bantam AAA season of ice hockey in Abbotsford, BC.

In addition to playing at the highest levels of minor hockey, Jake has had great success playing roller hockey.

A member of the Westcoast Warriors 96 team since 2004, Jake has played in and been successful in a number of roller hockey tournaments including:

2007 NARCh Finals: Mite Platinum Champions
2005 NARCh Finals: Atom Platinum Bronze Medal
2005 NARCh Winternationals: Atom Champions
2010 BC Summer Games: Champions
Numerous BC Provincial Championships and NARCh Regional titles.

Congratulations to Ryan Donaldson being selected by the Kelowna Rockets in Round 5 of the WHL Draft!

Ryan is also a member of the Westcoast Warriors 96 team and recently finished his final Bantam AAA season on ice with the Langley Bantam AAA Eagles.

Like Jake, Ryan has been a member of the Warriors 96 since 2004 and was a member of each of the championship Warrior teams.

In addition, Ryan participated at State Wars V, in 2009, as a member of Team BC 96, Gold medallists in the 1996 AAA Division.

Congratulations to JJ Virtanen being selected by the Kootenay Ice in Round 8 of the WHL Draft!

JJ is the 3rd member of the Westcoast Warriors 96 team drafted today and he recently finished his final Bantam AAA season on ice with his cousin Jake on the Abbotsford Bantam AAA team.

Like both Jake and Ryan, JJ has been a member of the Warriors 96 since 2004 and was a member of each of the championship Warrior teams.

Congratulations to JJ from the entire Westcoast Warriors organization!
