I feel like they will take the top 6 teams at regionals first then go to regular season points to finish out the pool. So that would include brockport and neumann. The league was so tight this year and regionals was great. I think because of that tightness in the league, you have to go by when games mattered. I mean neumann beat both rutgers and uconn at regionals and rutgers tied wcu like all these teams are right there even with each other. I did say that rowan was the team to beat which they showed.

Funny how 3 of the final 4 in D1 were in D2 last year, isn't it? And I'd argue that all 3 of those teams lost important pieces over the summer. Even Neumann lost Mariotti, Brockport lost Shaw, Rowan lost Ciocco, who was a very good two way player... I think WC is the only one that remained intact entirely.

Wcu lost Eric Keene who with Mariotti are top players in the country, however they draw a lot of talent and there school draws a lot because of the party atmosphere. However the top 4 d2 teams last year in the east places top 6 at regionals, which goes to show how good those teams are. I believe all 4 will have a spot at nationals. Hopefully the ncrha doesn't mess up and actually puts the invites out tonight like it says it will.

A lot of the Division 1 teams lost players last year, as well.

Buffalo lost a huge chunk of their players- and they still managed to recover rather nicely. Rhode Island, well they also lost the majority of their team, and it showed. Rutgers and Towson saw turnover similar to what teams like Rowan saw coming into this season. The league can be very cyclical, and it's not always about picking up players to get better. Sometimes standing pat with your roster can really improve your overall record.

Brockport's team looked incredibly similar this year. Losing Shaw definitely hurt, but you could argue that picking up Durinka covers that nicely. Losing Grossi definitely didn't help Rowan, but they picked up other pieces, and continued on. That was the whole reason those teams should have moved up to Division I, and did. They had/have some of the best talent in the league.

As for us (Brockport) we lost more than just Shaw in Couell and Massaco. Both great d-man that would have been great D1 players. Also only rolling 6 because of missing one of our forwards seemed to kill us come second half of the semi finals. I think we deserve a spot in nationals, when we want to come to play, we can really bring it.... i mean clearly that showed in VA hahaha

The way that the bids are given out in the ECRHA is not based on how teams finished at regionals, but on a point structure based on the following formula-

(Reg season wins x 2) + (Playoff wins x 3) + (Reg season and playoff ties). Only the regional champion gets an automatic bid, regardless of point total. Here's how it unofficially breaks down:

Buffalo had 1 returning D1 player and their goalie (who was injured in pool play). Players have only have 4 or 5 years to play so as soon as a core group comes together it is time for them to graduate. So every 4 or 5 years (or less) teams have to rebuild.
