I feel like Rhode Island, Suffolk, and Penn St will be in the lower positions, and that Hofstra will finish somewhere in the top 6. It'd definitely be interesting to see one of Brockport, West Chester, Neumann or Rowan place in the top 5 to show just how much parity was created by the new divisional Alignment.
To be honest DII might be a complete toss up between Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, Pittsburgh. Everyone looks like they can compete even ourselves and Delaware might make a serious bid at winning the region.

so now that the fall semester is done how does everyone think the ECRHA d1 is going to turn out? pretty interesting that as of now not one of the d-2 teams that moved up is in the top 3 in the standings (though that can easily change).
Teams that will qualify for regionals:
Rutgers
UConn
West Point
West Chester
Rowan
Penn St. (will surprise if roux isnt missing games for them down the stretch)
Brockport
Buffalo
After I finished this I remembered that we had a vote earlier in the year about possibly expanding the field for d-1 regionals to 10 teams...did anyone ever announce the results from that vote?

West Chester

Brockport
Stony Brook
Rowan
Neumann
Out:
Rhode Island
Towson
Temple
Hofstra
The only thing that will switch is the 3rd place team for the Central or the 5th place team for the Mid-Atlantic will get knocked out because you play your conference twice and Hofstra will go in. I could also see Temple going in over Brockport after last weekend.

Brockport was missing multiple top players at last weekend, to come out with two ties was well above our expectations. Next semester we will be looking very solid (hopefully)

anyone gonna give sbu any credit?

For what? They had 10 wins all year. 3 of which were against teams that made regionals (7 over Hofstra ,URI, Suffolk, and Temple). And they lost to 4-11-4 Suffolk. They needed brutal officiating to beat Army, Towson and Hofstra in Sewell. They have, on a good day, suspect goaltending (lowest save% among all teams that made regionals except Neumann, which has NO goaltending, and the eighth best GAA, which I credit more to their team defense than anything). And they balloon to 4.80 GA/g against the regionals teams.
They tied UConn the day after they had most of their team and their starting goalie suspended for that Neumann brawl- the same UConn team that could only muster a win over a DII team and a (nothing personal) very bad URI the entire second half.
So what are we giving them credit for?

how many games and how often do u see games? are u basing much of this off of like 1 or 2 weekends seeing teams, and stats?

Wow, really? I coached against them. This season. I've been in this league for 9 years now as a player or coach and 8 as a board member. The NCRHA has given me awards for contributions to the development of college roller hockey. How about you?

I haven't seen any games this year because im overseas, but I know that west point sucks, and so does penn state. Both highly over-rated.
West chester doesn't suck, but they aren't very good. I think Buffalo will win this year.

I think Temple and Hofstra were the last two to be eliminated. Bring on march madness! WOOOOO!

Hofstra is so overrated.
hockeykid12
02-26-2011, 11:58 AM
Nobody should speak poorly on anyone if they didn't even make regionals.
Side note:
Rowan is the team to best depending on what goaltending they get.
Neumann could scare a few teams depending on how discipline they play or get crushed by mouthing off to refs, referring to # 17,97,71 who seem to complain after every whistle.

Rowan Brockport UB - Pool A
WCU Rutgers UCONN - Pool B
Very tough to say for pool b.
Pool A west point could also be in, i see sbu winning zero games.

Not to mention.. when they beat Neumann.. along with the poor goaltending.. Neumann was missing lucente to add

Neumann on paper seems like they shouldn't be under 500, but it just seems like they get rattled to easy then the whole game is over. From what I've seen the coach has no control and just yells gibberish, Which doesn't help a young team. My pick is Rowan or wcu to come out on top. But wouldn't be suprised by psu doing it. Rutgers I think is overrated

UCONN over Penn State. Bad Call
Actually i agree with you, Penn state is a solid team.
Also i think rutgers is very overrated. And i definitely expect to see Rowan and WCU each in the semis at least. But going by history Rowan better hope someone knocks out WCU before they get matched up with them.

UCONN over Penn State. Bad Call
I agree as well, but maybe Penn State's goalie will be stuck in traffic again...for the entire weekend :)
I saw UConn in Mt. Pleasant and we played Penn State without their best player in Chantilly, VA.... Some of my players who have played against Dustin Roux say he is amazing... The team with the better goaltender usually wins and it's hard to believe the other teams have one better than Mitchell Reinhold. I don't see UConn beating Penn State.

well not that im hinting at anything but it sounds like somebody might still be a little upset that their team was eliminated from regional contention by sbu, as for them not winning any games at regionals i think that statement is gonna come back and hit you hard

You do realize UCONN with their full team and their goalie back at regionals in an entirely different team, they are nothing to look past.

I heard from one of the UCONN parents that their goalie is done for the year.
But yes, when they had their full team and goalie they had one of the best records.

UConn will have their full team this weekend.
in Pool A Buffalo and Rowan are locks, and I could see any of the other 3 teams (Stony Brook, West Point, Brockport) making it out as the 3rd seed.
in Pool B I don't think there is a definite lock - while its hard to ignore Penn State's huge streak, The only team in this pool which they have played on a level playing field with both teams at full strength is Neumann (they lost to WCU and Rutgers while missing Roux, and beat up on a depleted UConn team on allstar weekend) which makes it pretty difficult to say with confidence that they'll easily roll through this pool.
With Zack back (no pun intended) for UConn, almost every team in this pool has great goaltending and making it out of this pool may come down to who steps up between the pipes this weekend.
Either way, this weekend's d-1 regional will be very exciting to say the least - should be one of the best regional tourneys yet.
