Our team captain, and a good friend of mine, mike mulhall passed away in a car wreck this past thursday. As anyone who knows scranton hockey knows, mike was a great leader and an outstanding defenseman, and a great kid to party with as well.

RIP mike mulhall

I didn't realize he was the same kid who was in the crash here on Long Island. The accident happened minutes between my house on Long Island and the Hofstra campus. We had a similar situation a few years back with one of our teammates unfortunately passing in an accident right off campus. Really, really tough for all of us, as I'm sure it has been for you guys.

Although it's years later and virtually none of the current players even knew who he was, we still make sure that he's remembered by giving our "Ultimate Teammate" award, named after him, to one of our players at our year end banquet. In addition, we still wear his number 9 on the tail of our jerseys, and retired it at the 08-09 ECRHA event at our home rink, SkateSafe. Hopefully you guys will be able to do something to keep him in mind this season, and if you need any help doing so (ideas, financially, whatever) please make sure to let me know.

I'm not sure if you'd be interested but I could always do a write up on the ECRHA homepage for you in commemoration for him. I would need a little bit of information about him that you would like said. My condolences to you, your teammates and his family.

My condolences to your team. Sadly enough a great coach passed away thursday morning as well. His name was Rob Kenny and he coached many of the players on UM's team as well as a lot of other players on the various florida teams. He was a great man, a great coach, and a great father. 2 members of the hockey community who left us 2 soon. RIP

Mike,

So sorry to hear the sad news. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your team. When things like this happen it really shows what it means to be part of a team. We as hockey players and coaches are part of one big team and feel your pain with you.

May God Bless you and your teammates.

One of the saddest things I've read about. Couldn't believe it when I read the paper. Condolences to friends, family and teammates of Mike.
