haha thanks man. I had a rough weekend at ft myers playing like **** against UF. i blame it on the cuddling that jeff kotcher tried to do with me on a mini cot mattress the night before.

my votes:
D1: 1) phil, 2) moon, 3) childs

stats say otherwise, but when it comes down to a big save at a big time, i would say phil is the best goalie. dont get me wrong, Moon is still a great goalie and definitely better than me.

D2 (not counting myself): 1/2) Pohl, 1/2)antonacci, 3-5) next few are tough: i saw alex lopez play against UCF and win, played well, not sure if he plays that consistantly though. havent seen either of the ECU goalie's play yet, good stats for both though. clark colosimo played well against us, but their damn team plays a trap so there are a lot of outside shots, but he knows what he is doing and cant take away from a 2-1 win against us (shouldve been tied game but ref blew the whistle half a second early and the game for us).

long post but a goalie talking about other goalies is intriguing

Nice excuses for only scoring 1 goal against WCU. UCF D1 and UCF B combined to beat them 21-0. (11-0, 10-0)

As for the rankings.

Dan Moon makes huge saves all the time for us as we tend to give up a lot of breakaways/odd man rushes and he comes up huge.

Phil is always tough to beat especially on outside shots (almost impossible)

NC States goalie has his moments where he makes ridiculous saves (like when he had 41 saves in their 2-1 win over us last weekend)

I don't know if I can give them a ranking, they are all good in their own right.

I haven't seen much of D2, but the GMU's goalie's stats are pretty ridiculous. The UT goalie is good too. Miami's goalie has his moments but may be a bit inconsistent.

.

Did you watch the game?

WCU did set up the trap and box crap, and with USF being all individuals, this did not allow any scoring chances for them. Any team with half the skill USF has but actually plays together as a 4 man playing unit can penetrate and get chances. Do not know if WCU always sets up the trap or not, but you do what it takes to win...

WCU always sets up the trap...they have been doing that stuff for as long as I can remember. Its a good strategy against teams who cannot pass or lack talent, but against a team who knows how to pass it usually gets shredded.

well well mr hockeykid 12..

Even when my brother first founded the UT hockey team in 2006 and they went to tournaments just to get their name out the Guy Antonacci was still one of the top goalies in the SECRHL. The kid had to stand on his head game after game knowing from the start of the game they would probably lose. Now it's different. We have a strong team and don't often need Guy to stand on his head as much.

UCF B a few weekends ago in West Palm completely out played us in the 1st period... and who was in the net to keep us in the game standing on his head making incredible saves? Number 39.. When we played UCF.. he was incredible. I think CSteamer will back me up on that.. if it wasn't for Guy playing ridiculous.. and my hattrick of course.. no chance we beat UCF..

No further questions..

kotch... that was deep and emotional. i liked it.

but seriously. guy antonacci is far from the weak point of that team (if they have a weak point). he moves fast, hes large, and he yells at his team a lot. crappy goals on him are tough to find.

i wanna see pohl play again. only got to see him play the first weekend in savannah. he played well but our team sucked.

ignore the haters. Guy carried UT on his back for years. While I don't think he has played as well this year as he did when he was the only player UT had but that happens to every goalie when they finally get some help. But I still think he is the best in D2

his stats are the best but he has been challenged in only 3 games all year. And 2 of those games had extenuating circumstances. Fau was shorthanded and Miami was playing it's first game of the season and gmu lost to ncst. Nobody is saying Jordan is a bad goalie. They just saying guy is the best in D2. He has been doing it for much longer

ok we get it. Your upset because we didn't mention brockports goalie in a discussion about the secrhl. I'll be more specific. In the secrhl the best d2 goalie is guy. In the entire d2 the best goalie is brockports goalie because how dare I even mistakenly not give him credit for being the best in the country even though I have not seen him play one game.

It was just one weekend but Pohl clearly outplayed Keyes this weekend, who just looked lost on our powerplay goal where he didn't have his angle right and didn't cover 1/2 the net. Keyes looked good and made several saves that left us very frustrated, but if I had to pick based on what I saw this weekend I'd pick Pohl.

and seriously Beezeral I just can't wait to hear the extenuating circumstances you have for Rowan and Shippensburg this weekend. And clearly Brockport and Neumann weren't very good tests. I haven't seen Guy play (other than Kennesaw at Snellville) so I can't get into a comparison, but let's not pretend a bunch of 8 year old girls stole FAU and Miami jerseys and then played us.

mason. calm down ive had ur back the past few weeks. im not trying to take away anything from u guys, im just saying that you cant deny that it benifted you guys that you played against FAU without some key players and against us (UM) when it was our first game of the season. Just like you guys, our team was completely overhauled this offseason. We had a new goalie who had done nothing but ride the pine for 2 years and could count the amount of games he had played in that time on 1 hand. 3 of our 6 fowards were new to the team, and 4 of our 5 Defenseman were new as well. Our game against you was many of our players 2nd time on an indoor roller rink b/c most of our team played only Ice until getting to college and we are unable to practice on an indoor rink. since that time, we have added another top quality player, and gotten to know how to play with each other. There have been some bumps in the road (losing to KSU), but we now know what it takes to be a great team. You can call it excuses or you can call it stating the facts.

Other than a couple ECRHA guys, nobody from the SECRHL is saying GMU is a joke, had these boards cooled on GMU a bit? of course. thats what happens when you play 12 games very early in the season and then don't play again until the final weekend of the regular season. You guys jumped out to an 11-1 record and everyone was all over you and saying you guys were one of the best teams in the country. Then you don't play for a long time and the talk shifts to teams that are actually playing games. While GMU was idle, UM and UT defeated UCF and have won a ton of games, so naturally the talk shifted to those teams. whats the phrase? out of sight out of mind? What do you think people were going to talk about. GMU's victory over FAU and UM back in November, or UM beating UCF 2 weeks ago. thats all that happened. GMU played 12 games in the first semester and these boards were dominated by talk about your team the whole first semester. You guys didnt play a game until yesterday. There was nothing to talk about concerning GMU until this week. Its just how it is. you have played again and now people are talking about u again. Some people are making excuses about why you beat them, but you should take that as a compliment. You beat them and they are so worried about saving face that they will make any excuse to put u down.

Like i have said continuously on these boards, you guys have a great team, and showed it this weekend. I never said a bad thing about pohl other than that I thought he was untested, which was the truth. he was tested this weekend and while he gave up some goals this weekend, the reviews about his play have been nothing but positive.

You all need to put away the keyboard for a while.

FACT: GMU is a good team, a coin toss between them UM and UT for SECRHL. All three deserve to go to nationals. D2 is very competitive at Nationals and usually about 6-8 teams have a legit shot in winning. They have a very good goalie.

Good points.. I don't think anyone on our team thinks we are the best team in the country (especially after Brockport and Neumann), or even in the SECRHL.

Due to geographic location we had to play the tournaments as early as we did so we didn't have to travel as far. (the late ones were all in Florida or GA except for the one at our rink in Chantilly, VA) Given the snow we had in DC this year I think we made a good choice. One benefit was that we got to play some teams in their first game. (FIU, FSU, Miami)

We look forward to playing you guys on Saturday... Not counting D1 games, it should be the best game of the day. Next year we should go to the same interregional with Tampa and Kennesaw.

I agree, it should be the game of the day. Concerning the interregional, unless its in Georgia, there is a miniscule chance that we will be there. It takes us 11 hours just to get to snellville. we drive everywhere we go. it is just to far. the only reason we played in SC this year is because we were unable to attend the openining weekend in GA, or the Ft. Myers weekend early in the year due to me having to work and us having no back up goalie

i dont think that would even work. there would be so many shots, they would eventually break the bricks rendering the net empty in which case, more shots = goals.

I think the winner of the championship D2 game this weekend is gonna come down to goaltending. GL to all that are going this weekend

This can't be done till after nationals unless you base it Only on stats which are wrong 90% of the time anyway. If we try to do it now it will just be everyone pimping the best goalie in their region or their own goalie.

Agreed but how qualified are we to even speculate when most of us have not seen anyone play outside of our own region. I have no idea how good keyes is for brockport because I haven't seen him play. Ecrha guys have no idea how good guy is for UT. The only speculating that can be done is by each person pimping the best goalie they have seen which only includes 1/7 of the goalies in the country. If you really want to pimp your guy. Go on ahead. But there is no point until after nationals

ill pimp my guy :) pohl is the best ever! ha no but he has kept us in games that we come out sucking. and has been the reason we won a few games this season...as for brockport's goalie he is really good. he single handily removed all of GMU18's dignity with his glove. GMU18 will be forever haunted by the open net that was quickly gobbled up.
