I was wondering what happen to all the travel teams in the New Jersey area. I had a son who played for a few years but went away to college and I haven't followed in a while. I remember the following teams:

1. Breakaway
2. NJ Assault
3. Goodsport Sharks
4. Lightning
5. Wolfpack
6. Jaguars
7. Bad Apples

What happen to all these teams & groups? My son played a few times with the Bad Apples & Assault now it seems they don't even have 1 team nevermind a club.

NJ assault had a PIHA team a year ago (not sure about currently). It seems that most of these teams were around because of an unimaginable level of dedication from one person (or a few people). Many of those individuals probablly got burnt out and so the organizations folded. Its pretty dissapointing but it is occuring all over the country.

We used to travel from Maryland to NJ all the time because there were always great teams and organizations to play against... now its rare that there are more than a few teams in the tournaments.

I am not 100% positive on these but from what I have observed:

1. Breakaway - Folded and disbanded
2. NJ Assault - Same as Goodsport Sharks and Bad Apples
3. Goodsport Sharks - Same as NJ Assault and Bad Apples
4. Lightning - No idea
5. Wolfpack - Is now the NJ Salsa
6. Jaguars - Still around
7. Bad Apples - Same as Goodsport Sharks and NJ Assault

Players switch teams so much now its hard to keep an organization together. Add to that the fact that almost every youth parent thinks their kid is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
