Question...
Do the games for this weekend in L.I. actually start on Sunday ending on Monday? Or is this a typo? (Currently listed as 17,18 of Jan)
Any insight would be great!

I know us (Nightmare) have pro games Sat and Sunday but i heard last night in the locker room that one or both of our minors play on Monday. That might help answer your question.

The games go all weekend (Sat-Mon) since Monday is a holiday. But most teams are only playing 2 days so that you only need one night in a hotel, I'd assume.

Elites - Saturday and Sunday
Minors - Sunday and Monday

I think it's backwards to have the minor games on Monday. Some people do not have off work monday and are missing out on a day of playing.

So then put the elite games on Monday? Or just not play at all? I mean how else are you going to get all those games in one weekend? I don't have off, but I definitely made the time to. Generally speaking, there are more younger players that are still in school or don't work full time jobs that would be more likely to get off on Monday versus elite players.

well most of us that live in the real world during this "tough economic time" have a choice to make. slack off and call out of work when most employers are looking to fire people. or skip your games. i wasted one of my vacation weeks.... in jan..... to go to this thing instead of sitting on a beach in the pacific south west during spring break.
dont be mad when your team looses because half your guys decided to go to work.
or that team gets beat by a bunch of 16 year olds....
way to think things through aihl. way to %#$^ing go!

All I have to say is all of your owners agreed on this decision back in October. My team has been well aware since then and they made the necessary arrangements.
Maybe if you brought your concerns to your team owner about this it could have been addressed. Instead you wait until 6 days before the festival to bring it up.
Come on guys there are better ways to do this.

thats cool, because i found out about it maybe a week ago, and found out how the schedual was set up ON THIS FORUM. so yea my man.... there are better ways of doing this.
besides it's not like we get paid for this. asking someone to skip out on a days pay to play an intramural sport (aka glorified rec league with a pro lable) is a bit much.
and it's also hard paying for a room, food, travel expenses etc. when you know your're only going to have 5 guys on the bench and a goalie (3 of which are bench warmers and the back up) on monday. just seems like a waste of money and time.
but i mean whatever, you're absolutly right. this is information that our team captain should have relayed and helped organize.
right?

When was the schedule for this weekend posted? I know last year the Jamboree weekend was posted at the Beginning of the season, like the rest of the schedule. Now Havelock is not the most organized owner but why does he have to tell players the schedule. Its is online, with plenty of enough time to arrange schedules, print it out. He has busy schedule just like the rest of us, on top of that he travels alot for work. Then he has to deal with Surge schedules, game day operations, etc. It is not easy thing to do with little or no help.
Now if the schedule for the Jamboree schedule was not posted until later in the season, then I can see where players can be upset. But I know from experience running PIHA teams, you tell guys things and most do not listen. I know we all like to bust on Havs, but give him a break, be thankful that he has continued to keep the team alive in Morristown. Maybe if he is not doing what is expected of him, maybe some players should give him some help.

its a matter of choice. you do it or don't.
why would you post something negative bout the team you play for supposedly not informing you bout the upcoming schedule on a public forum?

Honestly the exact game times on those days were not posted until November but these dates were set in October. I guess anybody who goes to Narch Winternationals tournament for example should just say screw it since they have to play on a Monday.
Bottom line is organizations were prepared for this as it was discussed at great lengths. I would be asking your owner why you did not know until now and lastly I would not be doing that in a public forum. It shows no class or regard for your team or the league.

On behalf of the league, this was a decision that the scheduling committee that was formed preseason came up with. When it was voted on by the league to play under the selected format (2 jamborees each), rink time became an issue. A two rink facility simply could does not allow for enough time. We used 3 rinks in feasterville for the first festival, but using this weekend was a must.
This has been posted on the website for months on the website. To those that argue that they dont get the day off... It is a federal holiday, which is no different then a weekend day. I'm sure many players through out the league work weekends and face this decision on a weekly basis.

my fault guys. it has been a long, frustrating season and perhaps most of my frustration and dismay have leaked out onto this forum. i was unaware of when the schedual was posted or the fact that i could view it on the aihl web site. for that my comments have no base, and frankly make me look foolish. to my organization, my team mates and the leauge, im sorry. my coments were made hastily and without thought and logic.

Jeff,
You have to forgive Nate. After allowing me to use his jerseys at AAU that weekend they were a bit stretched out. Which angered him....I blame myself.
