Yup he was great and put on a show for everyone. They beat the Vipers this year in a great final! Hope you guys come back next year because Itan said he wants to come back as well and we really missed you guys over here!

I was there a couple years ago and coached a younger team. I am in talks with someone from taiwan to maybe put together a team with a few players from taiwan and a few players from America. Hopefully we can work it out. Honk Kong is an AMAZING place and it really is a phenomenal experience to go over. What better reason to visit than to play hockey as well. Lan Kwai Fong here we come!! (No idea how to spell that haha)

OH really a mixed team of Taiwanese and Americans? That would be great! Which team did you coach? I have been involved for the past 3 years. You did spell LKF correctly by the way!

we noticed the level of play among Taiwanese teams has really gone up. A nice challenge playing vs. them and can't wait for next year's tournament!

Itan was saying that he's keen on bringing a team along for next year's tourney.

finals were yesterday and it came down to Vancouver Vipers vs. UK Raiders. Raiders won 4-2 and Chavira had a hattrick. It was 2-1 vipers til 4 min left and then Chavira had two chances which he converted. He stayed on the entire game and still was the fastest guy out there. One of the Vipers got a nostril sliced open, but in true Canadian style, he stuffed his nose with tissue and came back to play and almost scored the winning goal.

Bronze went to the UK Desert Rats over Empire Skate from HK.

In the womens division, Taipei took the gold and HK took Silver. Bronze went to Singapore. Iran came in 4th.

All in all it was a great tournament, with great hockey and I really recommend if you like to play in a fun tournament and also enjoy a great social life, HK is the place to be. Next year will be the 10th anniversary, so it'll be pretty big.

Hey Guys

in case you're interested, i-cable (one of the local cable tv operators) was filming and put together a 3:20min segment which aired on TV recently and they uploaded it to their website:

http://sports.i-cable.com/webapps/video/sports_team.php

It's in cantonese, but still fun to watch nevertheless, it's the first image on the centre - left and just click on the orange TV screen next to it. Unfortunately it's streaming, so you can't fast forward.

the first 35 seconds is just explaining the basics, but after that there some nice footage from the final and some interviews. The last 45 seconds is the interview with Itan Chavira and some of his clips.

Fantastic tournament! So much fun. Where is that footage of the skating machine at the end?

whoa, that must have taken lots of work to get visas and allowances for an iranian womens team out there - dwayne told me the effort it was in previous years with the 2 girls that used to go over.

(bit of a change in the more modest styles pictured versus the micro-miniskirts of previous years)

:) believe it or not, this year they had 3 full teams and supporters with them. Dwain didn't do the visas this year. It was handled by the HKCIHA, obvsiously quite a lot of work, but when starting early it worked out well.

never got to see the previous outfits, but this year, Iran's jerseys were pretty cool
