Any good matchups that people are anticipating?

Miami vs Elon should be entertaining. Those two teams always play eachpther tough regardless of the talent on either team

You will on either Nov 21 or 22 in Ft. Meyers. Will probably get to see UCF vs Tampa and FAU vs Tampa as well...but the schedule hasnt come out yet so I dont know for sure.

I'll be sure to make sure I am sick next weekend (possibly swine flu).

GMU and UM should be a decent game tomorrow. UM's only hope is if there goalie can pull off a good performance. UM definitely has some fire power, but the other aspects of there game is of question mark. Hopefully they learned defense and goaltending in the past 4 days! ;) :p

NC State's solid this year.

NC's top four guys are just awesome. if they had a deeper bench with 3 or 4 more solid guys, they would be able to compete with UCF and FAU. but only 4 guys isnt enough against great teams.

This weekend in Ft Myers should be entertaining with UT going up against UCF and FAU. not sure about any other games but there is a good chance FAU and UCF will be playing each other since they are the only D1 teams going. i have high hopes for that game to be great to watch.

They are decent. UCF beat them twice by 7 goals though. I thought GMU would handle them with their results so far this year.

Schedule is made and has been emailed out.

They have Fau playing UCF at 4pm and 9pm on Saturday. Complete stupidity. Separate the game days, don't have us playing 3 hours apart. Fau also plays UT Sunday morning and Florida Sunday afternoon.

NC State was not that amazing and they really only had like 2 really good guys. FAU is a lot better of a team but both of them are solid teams. We were up by 3 goals on them and then decided not to play defense. they are a good team though and deserved to win against us cause we didnt play good.

can we seriously get some big rinks to play on? tired of these extremely small rinks where speed doesn't even matter...

That is retarded. Why would you have the two teams play each other on the same day. One game on Saturday and one on Sunday makes much more sense.

GMU 18 come down to ft myers. That rink is huge!! The next Ft. Myers event we should get NC State and GMU at, would make for a good showing!! As for the schedule, who cares who you play when. Your going to play them twice either way....

Now that we have been to three events and have seen a majority of the teams we figured we would do a little SECRHL prediction "rankings" as to who would make regionals and the order that they would finish.

1. Tampa - 4-0 haven't really seen them except against "weaker" teams at Snellville
2. GMU - 11-1 against top teams, with their only loss to D1 NCSU who is better.
3. Miami - 3-1 good skating team that scores and has a good goalie.
4. USF - 3-1 We are assuming they will play with more than six guys, unlike Atanta
5. UF - 0-4 against D1 teams, but definetely a top D2 team.
6. ECU - 5-3 Good team that should be 6-2 if they didn't start backup goalie vs. VT
7. Kennesaw - 5-3 another good team, but doesn't have a "difference maker" unlike 1-5
8. Western Carolina - 3-1 this is based on results as we haven't seen this team
9. Elon - 2-6 Schedule can only get easier, they have played the top D2 teams.
10. Florida State - 4-4 and they seem to be improving every game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
11. GSU - 2-2 The Panthers are a decent team that could surprise people.
12. JMU - 4-4 was lucky to play USC 8am sunday morning after the UF USC football game
13. USC - 4-4 lost to FSU 6-3 and JMU, so they probably are going to fall just short.
* . College of Charleston - 1-7 didn't have their goalie in Colombia so they could "improve" drastically.

I dont think UF is a top 5 D2 team. Kennesaw and ECU are both better than them.

I would love to come down to ft myers and play UCF, FAU and Tampa. But sadly its a 17 hour drive and flying isn't cheap. I agree the rink is great, i've played there before and its one of the best i've been to.

I'm interested in how FAU does this coming weekend since i think that FAU and us are very similar in skill. so i hope to see an FAU vs tampa and FAU vs UCF game.

I would love a rematch with NC state, The game felt like it was going to be another blow-out danglefest. But since it got to the point where no one made any effort unless they had the puck and defense was non-existent. We lost.

This coming weekend im an FAU fan.

We would appreciate if someone could bring a video camera to Ft. Meyers this weekend and videotape some of those games. We'd love to come, but our budget is pretty much shot this semester after attending 3 tournaments all of which were over 7 hours away.

Anyway we are starting to post video of our games from Colombia on YouTube. (we've already posted video from Savannah and some from Snellville)

#91 Michael Iadanza scored 4 goals. GMU was up 5-2 in the 2nd period and ran out of steam as NCSU built momentum and basically their "stars" were better than our stars. GMU outshot NCSU 18-10 in the 3rd but couldn't simply couldn't score.
NCSU's forward #91 Mike Iadanza, Defensemen #8 Mike Starrett, and #7 Christian Davis were the best players we have played against, with maybe the exception of a few of the FAU players (#98 Mike Thiefault, can't remember other one's name or number), and #11 and #8 from USF Steve Reagan & ? (roster doesn't list #8 but I remember him wearing that jersey number against us)

FYI... NCSU was also down 5-2 to Elon and NCSU came back to win that game as well. NCSU seems to start very slowly, they tend to get "outworked" in the beginning of the games. Then they start to sweat alot, drink more water and their natural hockey talent seems to come through. I think everyone who was there knows that the games wouldn't have been as close if the D2 teams didn't play NCSU in the morning. Both GMU and Elon were up 5-2 and neither team could beat NCSU.

Masonhockey.. first off who are you.. second Agreed.. your budget has to be completely shot for this semester.. three tournaments in one semester is gutsy. What tournament are you guys attending second semester? I know Kennsaw and Tampa are hitting up STL. Tom Fussner runs a great region and has some great teams.

The Carolina Sportsplex rink in Morrisville I'm pretty sure is a decent sized rink. They hosted nationals a few years ago and have also hosted 2hot4ice nationals a couple of times.

Jeff Kotcher,
I'm Eric Hardman, Coach of George Mason University.
We are actually doing 3 tournaments each semester if you include regionals.

We are going to:
Jan 30th and 31st ECRHA regional in Pittsburgh, PA (3 hours away), http://www.ncrha.org/schedule.php?event_id=1029

Feb 20th and 21st in the SECRHL interregional in Winchester or possibly The Box in Chantilly, VA (near Dulles Airport in Washington DC our home rink) on February 21st (10 minutes away) http://www.ncrha.org/schedule.php?event_id=1039

Feb 27th and 28th in the SECRHL Regionals in Snellville http://www.ncrha.org/schedule.php?event_id=1040

Playing 3 tournaments the first semester isn't that gutsy when you don't have many options. We kind of had to play 3 tournaments each semester because of the location and timing of the tournaments. Being from Washington DC (Northern Virginia) we had to travel all the way through the states of VA, NC, and SC to play in Snellville and Savannah. Now that the SECRHL doesn't play in Raleigh anymore, and other than Feb 21 at our home rink, our closest SECRHL tournament options were both 7 1/2 hours away in Colombia or Dec 5th in Taylors, SC. I'm not complaining as I realize Miami is in a similiar situation. However, location and timing is the reasons as to why we played 3 tournaments this semester, not guts. We aren't as lucky as teams near Atlanta GA, that are pretty centrally located in the SECRHL. We are the northern most team and we didn't want to have to travel to Florida, and we couldn't make the Jan 30th one in Snellville (9 1/2 hours away) because we were going to the ECRHA interregional in Pittsburgh (3 hours away) that same weekend, which we had a good time at last year.

Anyway, many have suggested we play in the ECRHA because they have 3 rinks closer to us all within 3 1/2 hours (Mt. Pleasant, LeMoyne, Feasterville) but we are kind of enjoying the comraderie of the SECRHL and would like to stay with Virginia Tech and James Madison University and play them every year. Not to mention we stunk last year at 2-14 and couldn't compete in the ECRHA anyway (not that we competed well in the SECRHL) We feel we are building a pretty good program here that is going to be good for a while. We just need to learn not to stay up until 5 am when we have a 10 am game.

Looking forward to seeing you at regionals this year.

Looking forward to seeing videos from the Florida tournaments.

You may want to reread my post gentlemen. One of those "tournaments" is regionals. The others is and interregional in Pittsburgh and one on our home rink.
We are aware of the additional fee and plan to pay it for Pittsburgh, PA.

Our budget is set for these tournaments, my original point was that we don't have any additional money for Ft. Meyers FL. Obviously we are going to "save money" by not having to pay for vans or rooms with the games at our rink or in Winchester.

How many games can you predict right this weekend: Here's my picks.

Saturday, November 21st
12:00PM 1 - Central Florida (B) Georgia State (DII)______UCF (B) by 1
1:00PM 1 Kennesaw South Florida__________________________USF by 2
3:00PM 1 Florida Tampa___________________________________TAMPA by 1 ???
4:00PM 1 Florida Atlantic Central Florida________________UCF by 3
5:00PM 1 Central Florida (B) Florida International (DII)__UCF (B) by 8
6:00PM 1 South Florida Georgia State_____________________USF by 3
7:00PM 1 Kennesaw Florida________________________________Florida by 2
8:00PM 1 Tampa Florida International_____________________Tampa by 15
9:00PM 1 Central Florida Florida Atlantic________________UCF by 3
10:00PM 1 Georgia State (DII) Central Florida (B)_________UCF (B) by 1

Sunday, November 22nd
8:00AM 1 South Florida Florida___________________________USF by 2
9:00AM 1 Florida International Georgia State_____________GSU by 7
10:00AM 1 Central Florida (B) Kennesaw (DII)______________Kennesaw by 3
11:00AM 1 Tampa Florida Atlantic__________________________FAU by 2
12:00PM 1 Central Florida (DI) South Florida (DII)________UCF by 7
1:00PM 1 Kennesaw Florida International__________________Kennesaw by 10
2:00PM 1 Florida Atlantic (DI) Florida (DII)______________FAU by 5
3:00PM 1 Tampa (DII) Central Florida (DI)_________________UCF by 4

??? I haven't seen much of UCF (B) and Florida, I'm also asuming USF has more than 6 guys there this weekend, otherwise their Kennesaw and Florida games might be different.

I think if there is one team that might surprise this weekend it might be GSU who could go 4-0, or 1-3 depending on how they matchup with their two games with UCF (B). GSU could also give USF problems in the 2nd or 3rd period if USF tries playing with 6 guys again.

Those 1pm -4pm & 9pm games on Saturday should be great.

This post isn't meant to put down any team, I'm just curious as to what some of the guys who have been in the league for years are thinking will happen this weekend. These picks also aren't the teams I'll be rooting for, just what I think the outcome will be.

This post isn't meant to put down any team, I'm just curious as to what some of the guys who have been in the league for years are thinking will happen this weekend. These picks also aren't the teams I'll be rooting for, just what I think the outcome will be.

At this point, these are a little more accurate.

What happened?

Also, MasonHockey...not bad. However, you are giving florida way too much credit in my opinion. Tampa will smoke them, and no way Kennesaw loses to them,

MasonHockey, a few of ur predictions were just way off. this is revised and is more accurate. u seem to be hating on FAU and giving UF and Georgia state more credit than they may deserve, not sure why.

And FAUplayer, whats going on with ur team with ur assumptions for this weekend? Im expecting some quality games between u and UCF and UT

Georgia State are pretty decent i think they could put up a challenge if USF only has 6 guys and if UF is not as good as everyone says. Tampa, UCF will win all 4 FAU will either win one or lose both to UCF, and will destroy the other two teams. USF will go 2-2 or 3-1. UF 1-3 or 2-2. and FIU 0-4. Kennesaw works pretty hard and will probably go 3-1

Pretty good predictions. KEnnesaw and GSU are skate hard and will pressure the puck, if you beat those two you will have a solid weekend. Good luck, see you in lake worth, or ft. myers

Not hating on FAU, I just think extremely highly of UCF. I saw them at Snellville and thought they were in a class by themselves, even their B team is really good and seriously there might be some merit to them saying they are the best B team in the country.

I predicted FAU to win the other 2 games they aren't playing UCF by more than 2 goals.

As I said in my post I only saw 10 minutes of Florida at Snellville so it wouldn't surprise me if I was way off on them.

I wouldn't underestimate GSU if I were you though. Seriously, we played one of our better games against them (Game is on youtube). If USF shows up with 6 guys then USF could be in real trouble in the third period if the score is close. My advice to USF is to rest #8 and #11 in your 1pm game against Kennesaw if you are up or down by more than 3 goals against Kennesaw.

Should be interesting to see the results this weekend.

Kennesaw has been the biggest disappointment thus far; I was expecting a decent team like they had last year, and was surprised to see how poorly they performed in Savannah. They are also experiences goaltending issues it looks like, unlike last season.

We (Kennesaw) are having some of the same issues this weekend as we did before Savannah. We are missing guys due to both school and illness.

Obviously savannah was a bad weekend for us. FAU walked all over us and GMU was the beneficiary of some weak goals (not to say they didn't earn the win). All of our major issues should be fixed by spring semester.

And someone said earlier that we are going to St. Louis, just thought I would confirm that. We are going to STL in February and honestly we had better get our guys back by then or we're in trouble.

UCF and FAU tied 2-2. FAU goalie stood on his head. I dont know the actual shot total, but UCF must have had 50.

FAU - 3

I guess it's time to update my rankings for regionals...

1. Tampa - 8-0 impressive wins against FAU and UCF, will probably win the SECRHL D2, the only question is how far will they go in Nationals?
2. GMU - 11-1 against top teams, with their only loss to D1 NCSU who is better.
3. Miami - 3-1 good skating team that scores and has a good goalie.
4. Kennesaw - 8-4 climb from #7 with their wins over USF and Florida, but continue to show they are incosistent with a 5-1 loss to UCF (B)
5. ECU - 5-3 Good team that should be 6-2 if they didn't start backup goalie vs. VT, which might cost them that #4. Need good showing Dec 5th
6. USF - 4-4 Ft. Meyers was a disaster for them, only beat GSU 4-2, however they could be this year's Tampa at regionals and finish with a low seed going into the 3 game round robin of regionals but emerge with a higher seed in the bracket.
7. Western Carolina - 3-1 this is based on results as we haven't seen this team, should be interesting to see them Dec 5th against tougher teams, I'm not sure they can beat Elon and already lost 8-3 to ECU. Could be overrated at #7 and could be more of a #10 team.
8. Elon - 2-6 Schedule can only get easier, they have played the top D2 teams
9. UF - 1-7 Yeah I overestimated them, they have played tough teams, but need to win or won't make regionals.
10. Florida State - 4-4 and they seem to be improving every game, they are much better than #11 -#13, and could finish with a better record than Florida .
----------------------------------------------------------------------
11. JMU - 4-4 was lucky to play USC 8am sunday morning after the UF USC football game
12. USC - 4-4 lost to FSU 6-3 and JMU, so they probably are going to fall just short. They are probably a better team than JMU though. Could make a big jump with their results from Dec 5th tournament.
13. GSU - 4-4 The Panthers are a decent team that could surprise people, but have only beat FIU twice, UCF (B), and Georgia Tech. lost to GMU, ECU, and USF and UCF (B), would like to see them play games against FSU, JMU, and USC or some "average" D2 teams

* . College of Charleston - 1-7 didn't have their goalie in Colombia so they could "improve" drastically. Dec 5th is their last chance for a good showing to sneak into regionals in case Elon or Florida end up with a worse record, which is unlikely, but possible.

Dec 5th tournament seems kind of weak from a D2 standpoint. ECU and Elon are probably the best D2 teams attending, but probably won't play each other due to the fact they played in Snellville already. Which teams will have to play D1 NCSU and MTSU when they aren't playing each other? (Elon can't afford too many more losses if they want to make regionals) Should be interesting to see how WCU does if they have to play Elon? WCU probably won't have to play ECU because they played in Snellville. This tournament is where we see if USC, VT, or C of C have the ability to win some games and possibly sneak into regionals should Elon or Florida end up with "poor" records due to their tough schedules. I'd like to see Elon have to play WCU & USC, they would probably win both but this way regionals would be decided more by direct games and not because Elon faced a tough schedule and USC, JMU or WCU faced an "easier" schedule.

Just my 2 cents. I'm already looking forward to the Jan 23 tournament results in Lake Worth, FL. to see how Florida, USF, Miami, and FSU match up against each other.

Mason, I agree overall with your rankings other than UF. I think u can pretty much close the door on them. They are 1-7 in the deepest division in the conference. The road will not get easier on them unless the powers that be decide to be very generous and only schedule teams like UNC to play UF.
