Discontent. Astonished. Vacant. Dazed. Lament.

All words to describe the abrupt ending to the 2008-2009 Garden State Savage Wolves playoff hopes and aspirations. A successful and, at times, gratifying regular season all for nothing due to lack of commitment and respect - player attributes that would not be welcome back.

Honor. Loyalty. Perseverance. Resolve. Nobility.

The 2009-2010 AIHL Garden State Savage Wolves organization was meticulous in the types of players that were sought after and how they would represent this seasons Garden State Savage Wolves.

The rebuilding process began at the back end with the additions of Joe D'Aloisio (PA Brawlers) and Matt Cooper (NJ Surge), both goaltenders bring a veteran presence, leadership and consistency. The next step was strengthening a defense which returns Ray Katinsky and the Keene brothers Eric and Kevin. Enter Marcus Fajardo (NJ Surge) and Frankie Amodeo (NJ Assault) excellent defenseman with superior skill sets, experience and offensive flair. Our biggest weakness last season was depth up front so we flipped the script and made it a strong point. Returning responsible and dependable forwards Tristan Gardner, Bill Katinsky and Gene Gsell is huge especially when you add offensively gifted players Johnny Pinheiro (PA Brawlers), Geoff Lind (NJ Assault), Herman Baron (NJ Assault) and Mike Criscuolo (WSHL Tulsa Rampage) plus versatile workhorses Lou Licari (WSHL Tulsa Rampage) and Jack Phelan (NJ Nightmare).

Every team playing in the tough Mid-Atlantic division made roster upgrades but we feel we have made the ones that will put us over the top come playoff time.

Key Additions:
G - Joe D'Aloisio
G - Matt Cooper
D - Geoff Lind
D - Herman Baron
D - Frnkie Amodeo
F - Johnny Pinheiro
F - Marcus Fajardo

Honestly what do you get out of posting something like this?

It lets people know the roster for the upcoming season, what do you think he gets out of it? and with 278 views, obviously someone, besides yourself, is interested.

growl89: I think it was the negative tone, along with announcing the cuts. Like if you were announcing the cuts from tryouts it is nicer to just say who is coming back next session, not read out the couple of guys who got dropped.

I don't know any of those guys, but you're left wondering if the guys on the departure list are there because others are better, they left for greener pastures/other reasons, or because they had the bad attitudes mentioned at the start.

All taht said, good luck with the season

I do not think this was meant to be negative. I think tro was only trying to show the roster changes. I doubt that these were "cuts" considering many of these players are very talented. This is possibly the best roster in the league very impressive.

Troho9
10-26-2009, 10:28 PM
It was not meant to have any kind of negative connotation. As a matter of fact only 3 players on the “departures” list came back to tryouts and of those 3, 2 are on the New Jersey Grizzlies and 1 was invited back to practice with us but decided otherwise.

The fact that he has to state all his words and upsets from last season? The reason I say who cares is yea 278 people right have looked but know one really posted about it.

"The fact that he has to state all his words and upsets from last season? The reason I say who cares is yea 278 people right have looked but know one really posted about it."

Yes I felt the need to state what happened last year, it was embarrasing. We had 4 players "no call/no show" to a playoff series, you think they should be commended and invited back?

usahockey9
10-27-2009, 10:22 AM
Which players were they that did not show up?

Troho9
10-27-2009, 10:35 AM
That's not open for discussion as I respect those players decisions.

usahockey9
10-27-2009, 12:06 PM
Maybe their are reasons why they did not come to the playoffs or wanted to come back to play this season.

Is there a point you are trying to make?

Those players made their decisions and they are no longer with this organization. I could care less what their reasons are/were. They let their teammates down at the most important point of the season.

Point is when is the last time your team won something major with the same players on your teams?

Dude first of all most teams in this league have players that are different year to year. Players jump around from organizations and they make a choice where they tryout.

In relation to them losing in the playoffs last year it was my team that beat them. Tro and I have had extensive conversations about those games and he has never said anything negative to my team or blamed it on those guys not being there saying it was a fluke. In fact his only comment is that he was not happen when commitment time of put up or shut up showed up.

The Savage Wolves are a great organization and I have the utmost respect for them and the way they are run.

From the way it looks and your comments it sounds like sour grapes to me and maybe you were one of the guys who got cut at their tryouts this year. Or even worse one of the guys who NO CALL/NO SHOWED the playoffs.

so bitter... and if you are not, then why would you care when they won something last? And why would you then anonymously write these brutal posts with zero point?

They let their teammates down at the most important point of the season.
I can't believe that people would do that - short of death or something similarly serious it just beggars belief that people would no show for a playoff (and so many).

usahockey9: I don't think the Wolves record of wins has any relevance. If I had guys no-showing on my team for a finals without very very solid reasons why, I wouldn't want them back on my team. If you join a team you make a commitment to it.

These posts are the reason it was probably really unnecessary to post a list of players not returning...I think its a bit silly to have thought it might not have provoked a response.

Obviously, the team you were unhappy with is no longer, so let it stay that way, no need to resurrect the dead. Focus on your vision for your current team...you are off to a great start with that roster! Good Luck-

I recall the Flyers showing a list of players that they traded, released or dropped vs the players that were added before the first game of the season....whats the difference between that and the Wolves doing it? Except some rondom person/people taking it personal.

Yea the flyers might tell everyone there cuts but they dont post why they let certain guys go or why the players didnt want to come back and so forth. How he runs his teams is his business and seeing him with different teams every season or tourny's is a joke.

Troho9

So apparently you have played for this organization at one time and are upset with the way things were handled, that's fine. Just let us all know what team you run so we can see what a spot on job you are doing.

As for the joke, well, the joke is you who hides behind a annonymous screenname and makes pointless remarks and takes shots at ex teammates, coaches and staff.

now you did it, you woke Ray up...

Since you are so seasoned with the ins and outs of roster releases, maybe you can catch me up on this. Why was Robbie Schremp let go from the Oilers? It must be a big secret since, according to you, no nhl team would do that.

If you do not like to look at the changing Wolves roster, then don't watch a game.

Or better yet, start a team from scratch of guys that no one knows, and then turn them into a team that plays Torhs and Narch Pro.

As someone who is on the outside looking in for playing time this season, I hold no reservations about what the team does. Always looking to improve, isn't that what "pro" sports is about?

Time for someone who never comments do get in on this. I never come onto the board until I see someone trying to ruin what this is all about.

I have know Brian for many years and he has always put a great team on the floor to play. Yes, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. He runs a great organization and I commend him on all the work he does.

As far as yourself.usahockey9, sign your name, make your comments , and grow up and get over yourself. Until you do that, you should really consider not commenting on things you are not 100% sure about it.

We all know the wolves are going to be a great team this year. Every year the are the team to beat and the team to contend for the championship. They will be a marked team and have a target on them all season for teams to beat. They are by far will be the toughest team to play this year.

Havelock17
10-29-2009, 05:49 PM
Yeah some big league chew would be great!

Anyway, again, the announcement of roster changes shouldn't be taken as negative. Rosters change all the time in every sport and it's always public. We don't have a massive media outlet like other sports, so this is it, don't perceive anything to be negative from the person posting... if it was The Daily Record or another media entity making note of a roster change, we wouldn't think twice.

Tro, good luck this season, I wish you and the team the best of luck and good luck to everyone else as well.

you know i got your back for entertainment value gene, its me sal from the sharks. this unidentified fool seems to have a gripe against mr. trohalides for whatever reason. all i know is that when i think of why this league is so great, the savage wolves always come to mind. that's because they not only are very talented, but they act with class. most teams dont have both of these characteristics. and this goon fighting with your coach probably doesnt have either one...

Whats the big deal of anyone posting roster moves on here, an inline hockey web site???? We will all clearly see the players when we all play and think, I wonder what happened to ________, thanks to the postings, now we all know.

The Mavericks made a ton of roster moves also and I have received several calls/emails about a certain players that we are not showing on our roster. maybe I should have posted my changes also so everyone knew.

I think this posting ALSO provides us GM's with a list of possible pick-ups or "free agents" if we need to grab 1 or 2 players.

Either way, no one is ever happy if they are cut or let go from a team and it is not an easy thing to do for anyone.

here's a few classics....

Peter: I'll handle it, Lois. I read a book about this sort of thing once.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't nothing?
Peter: Oh yeah. Thats it

Peter: Well, I'm gettin' something really special too. And by special I don't mean special like that Kleinaman boy down the street. More special like... like Special K, the cereal. Hey, what do they do with the regular K? And for that matter, what ever happend to K. Ballard? You know, if you said mallard and you had a cold, it would sound like ballard.
Brian: Do you listen to yourself when you talk?
Peter: I drift in and out.

Lois: (gasps) Oh my god!

Peter: That's right! I bought a horse!
