Hi Folks,
Check out this cool story about a female inline hockey player heading to the FIRS Inline Hockey World Championships:

I have a friend who lives in Woodland, and it is NOT a big town.

always good to see more articles about inline getting run.
If the reporter got the details right, I wonder why on earth Team USA for the women is only 8 skaters. Even if it is a team of youthful energetic types, 8 players don't have the legs to keep going on a 60 x 30 for so long. Not when they'll be playing the Czechs or the Canadian girls - plenty of whom have impressive resumes of college ice and train/play with the Canadian womens ice team.
It is a staggered tournament this year - the men play after the women, hopefully our training schedule doesn't clash with watching the womens finals. Good luck to the USA girls, though I'm hoping the canadian girls pick up the gold this year.

I believe the article isnt correct. I think there are 10 women this year.
USA and canada play each other in the first game this year. That will be the game of the tourney. doesnt seem right for the two best teams to play in a pool game so early.
Last year canada beat the USA 2-1 in the semis in the best game of the tourney.
Keeley Brown (sorry about the spelling) is the best womens goalie around and is the heart of the Canadian team.
USA dominated the Czechs in 2007 in Bilbao in both games on way to their second straight gold medal. I dont think they played each other in Germany last year.
I think the USA got faster this year. They got a lot younger for the most part. Canada may have some good college ice players but the USA has some great INLINE talent. Cat Santo has great hands and while most of these women only play roller in the summer, Lisa Giovanelli(played ice at NorthEastern), one of the US captains, plays Inline all year as does Char Nicholson.
GO USA!

Lisa Giovanelli was the best player on the Northeastern JV hockey team

Actually you are 100% incorrect.
Lisa played 4 years of varsity at Northeastern Div 1 and was the 1998 womens beanpot MVP.
Score update USA beat Canada 5-1 today in the opening game.
