considering all teams play 32 games, winning percentage is already accounted for by the points standings and the second tiebreaker, wins...

I was just curious Stio. I know the NHL's first tie breaker is wins, and I thought that is what it would be. I was told otherwise and knew someone on here would know. Somehow after a 7 week layoff guys are still hurt, not to mention the fact that Tozzi fell off a ladder the other day and broke his foot. Out 4-6 weeks.

I would also rather not take the 4+ hour drive to Phoenix again, especially since Graham and I were almost taken out by an 18 wheeler last time. So I wanted to know exactly what we had to do this weekend to have the playoffs in Vegas. Good luck to us.

i believe so, the 3 division winners play each other in a RR style and than reseeded so that 2v3 play each other in a best of 3 and the winner to move onto face the 1 seed in another best of 3. i also heard that the 3 division winners were just seeded based on the regular season standings and that would eliminate the RR and you would just do 2v3 and the winner playing the 1 seed.

does anyone have the actual format for the conference finals?

Katinsky, relax yourself. I would text him, but then he would have my number and probably try and talk to me daily. I can't have that. He was coaching, was let go when we were 8-2. Lou Lamoriello is our GM. I'll tell you that situation another day.

I don't know what you want us to show you. With this tiebreaker situation we have to get 11 out of 12 points this weekend against El Paso to have the playoffs in Vegas. If not then we will be traveling to Phoenix the last weekend in May. When are the other divisions playoffs scheduled?

Jesus, communication in this league is awful. My team has been told repeatedly that divisional playoffs are next weekend, May 15-17. Does anyone know what's really going on?

Our playoffs start next week, May 16 and 17. It's unfortunate that we worked so hard to have a good season and record only to not get a playoff home game, but that's the situation we are in so we deal with it anyways.

As for you guys Downey, hopefully you guys do well and get some home playoff action in Vegas. I gotta get you in touch with my buddy Joe Herman that moved out there. Awesome roller player. Could definitely help you guys out next year. Ask Stio he knows who he is.

good luck you bum

Conference Final format.

All 3 teams play 1 round robin game against each other. Team with best record is the 1st seed with a bye to Sunday. Seed 2 vs Seed 3 best of 3 Saturday night with the winner playing Seed 1 Sunday in a best of 3.

Southcyclone, is that information posted somewhere? Are the team owners told all of this info, or should they have read it somewhere? This is not a knock on anybody at all, a lot of us are just out of the loop on what is going on, myself included. Thankfully someone has the answers on here. So thank you Southcyclone.

The team owners were informed of this at the Winter meetings in Vegas. Those who did not attend received an email with this information the week after the meeting.

I assume you are from the Vegas team so I can tell you for sure your owner was present at the meetings. As well as your coach.

I know how sensitive some can be to criticism when it comes to these leagues so calm yourselves before you yell at me to "like it the way it is or don't play!"

I don't like the round robin games being played at conference finals. Seems unnecessary to me. So, if we were to make it, we're going to play each team once Saturday afternoon then in the evening play up to 3 games and if we win that series play up to 3 more on Sunday? Don't like it. Think the 3 teams should just be seeded based on regular season record and play two series. It's not just the number of games but that if you had the best regulsr season record you should get that #1 seed at conference finals. And this is coming from someone whose team, if we make it, will definitely not be having that best record.

And, as far as number of games, if we are going to play up to 8 games, maybe just best of 3 for 1st round, best of 5 for 2nd round? I liked it when PIHA did it that way last year. So, it progresses from best of 3 (conference semi) to best of 5 (conference final) to best of 7 (league final). Just a thought.

Alex that was brought up but when the imbalance in schedule since not everybody will play every team in their conference it is unfair to seed a team it what some may call a weaker division then other divisions.

Alex...you make some good points. I too hope that nobody gets over sensative regading your comments. I would however like to comment on this post and another one that you submitted yesterday I believe.

You made mention in an earlier post that you are unhappy with the communication within the league. You said that you all had been told that the playoffs would begin on a certain date and then reacted negatively when another player had posted something different. I can certainly see a cause for concern on your behalf, but perhaps the best way to handle this would be to take the information posted here and approach your team's owner with it. He or she should then immediately contact the Southwest Division Coordinator to get confirmation on which dates are the correct ones and you could just move forward from there. It appears, on the surface at least, that something may have been posted here by a player who was somehow misinformed regarding the playoffs. I would call it a simple mistake by a player rather than a breakdown in communication at the league level. If it is indeed true that both organizations are being provided with conflicting information from the league, then there is no doubt an immediate cause for concern and I would have your team's owner contact the Western Conference Director CJ Gamble right away. I would like to think that it was just an honest mistake, but hey, you never know until you ask the question and get to the bottom of it.

Simply stated, don't take everything that is posted on here as gospel. I would like to think that nobody would purposely post something containing information that is known to be incorrect. However, there are times when people may post something that is to the best of their recallection, only to have it not be entirely accurate. If that were the case, I'm pretty sure that it would be done without any malice intended. The good thing is that there are people within the league that can answer your questions properly and in a timely fashion. That is the route that I would suggest should be taken in the event that something like this comes up on here again.

As for your comments about the format of the playoffs, I too would like to see something different for next year. The great thing about this league is that we all have an even say as to the future direction of the league. We will all have an opportunity to present any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, and comments regarding change to this or any other subject for that matter. We will also have the chance to lobby for any policy that we all feel would be advantageous for the league moving forward. And ultimately, we all have the right to vote one way or another on each and every bit of legislation that is presented to the league as we enter our 2nd season.

This all being said, be sure to make note of anything and everything that you would like to see changed for next season and present it to your owner so that he or she can bring it up at the offseason league meetings. If they are good ideas that the majority of the owners approve, you will see it added to the league bylaws next season. If it is something that does not recieve approval from the owners, I can assure you that they would be able to provide a valid reason(s) as to why that particular item would not be beneficial to the league. Most importantly, your views, as well as everyone else's associated with the AIHL will be heard, debated, and voted upon. Isn't that at the very least the best that we could ask for?

Good luck to your organization in the playoffs.

Ruppy Hailey
