Long Beach State returns the entire team except Josh Hackworth. We will be also adding two more Platinum level players to the D1 squad next season.

D2 - #92 Cameron Rowand, transfering from Rowan to Tampa.
Should be a strong addition to an already potent Tampa roster.

RUMOR @ Nationals was that the NCRHA is taking a very hard look at the 5 year eligibility rule. The consensus of those people I spoke to was that it very well may be changed to 6.
If that happens, they'll be a line out the door of guys looking to come back for the 1 extra year. Just when we thought Lindenwood was losing some of their top players..............

ps - Other, nonconfirmed rumor at Nationals: 2010 Nationals @ San Jose, CA. That is, if there can be an agreement hammered out as far as the $$$ rental rate is concerned. I realize the NCRHA has a budget, but how sweet would Nationals be in San Jose?

Narch was great there last summer.
I don't even know if I'd want to raise up the eligibility numbers, but if so, I would imagine it would involve grad school education and not 6 years of undergrad. Regardless, I'm gonna start taping up my sticks...

I think that's more accurate, but at this point I don't think there's very strong support behind that. More of a rumor mill issue :)
Boo to 6 years of eligibility, yay for nationals on the west coast next year.

Whats wrong with 6 years? I played six years, I have a BA and MA...college was much better for me having hockey to look forward to on weekends. Maybe this would be a good debate for another thread? I am sure there are plenty of pros and cons.
Regarding the "6 Year Rule"
I don't agree in a specific amount of years but, I support a min. set GPA and Credit Hours, there would be no way or getting around going to class and doing well if indeed you did want to play NCRHA.

and after next season when Lindenwood's core guys have had their sixth season, should we lengthen the eligibility to 7?

I'd like to announce tryout dates for the University of Phoenix Online Phoenixes, which will be making their debut for the 2009-10 NCRHA campaign. Now that we're probably adding an extra year of eligibility, I will be making a comeback, as will Matt Brunk, Jim Tamburino, Mat Hahey, Evan Winstead and others.
The tryouts will be held next weekend at the Free State Sports Arena in White Marsh, MD.

Six years of college hockey! And we are trying to legitimize our sport? Give me a break. Next someone will want players to buy memberships to be able to play in tournaments!

No reason for six seasons.... The league has come far enough to do away with this. Just like every legitimate college sport, we should have five years to complete four seasons. A fifth season for a medical red-shirt or something of that nature would have to be approved by league...

As I recall, the 6 year discussion focused on a concept of 4-undergraduate and 2-graduate, or 5-undergraduate.

Are you serious righ tnow, jeff? Just because we had a good team and a solid run does not mean that the NCRHA structured their rules around us. What is your issue? You have been very negative towards us and its kinda getting old. Your video on youtube of when we played you says it all, too. One person on our team takes a roughing penalty and now, all of a sudden, we have no class. Pick a new issue to bitch about. Just because you don't like us doesn't mean you have to discredit what was actually a pretty respectable discussion so far.

I agree with Brandon.
I wasn't at the Lindenwood vs UMSL final, but the information I got from a very reliable source (my son), was that Fudge got what he deserved - END OF STORY. I also was told by my son that he was impressed by the way Lindenwood handled themselves during and after the Towson game. He was also impressed by the way Lindenwood handled themselves after the championship game loss to UMSL. Sure, it's easy to be gracious when you when - but, when you lose, that's another story, and Lindenwood did it with class.
If we would could get back on topic - I would appreciate it.

I'll let you know about the offseason activity at UMSL as soon as I can find someone to pull the knife out of my back.

Were those names supposed to send shivers down anyone's spine? Ive heard of two of those people, and only 1 is good at hockey... any guesses?

No, they weren't supposed to send shivers down anyone's spine. It was a joke, obviously. Simply naming a few of the players I played with in college, though I will argue that none of the players I named were bad players...

perfectly said. It's a complete joke if they extend it to 6 years. Nationals in San Jose Would be awesome and in a state where roller hockey is huge.

San Jose is the perfect place for next year's tournament. That rink is simply awesome.

Yeah maybe, but some messed up stuff has happened...whenever I tell anyone what has actually transpired, I get some very strange looks and quizzical reactions....it really is kind of messed up....I'm not gonna talk about it on here.

San Jose? Donkey capital of the U.S., where the hell is the barn. Home to Landshark beer. Thats a long way for Don Johnson to make it from South Florida. And here I was anti-Detroit. I am in favor of extending eligibility for 20 years and a 4 hour requirement. This is a club sport. For those of you in shock the NCAA is a joke for football and basketball vis-a-vis money. If you can play the academic standards change in those sports. Why would we want to have a self punishing sport. It may be a big surprise but roller hockey is diminishing faster than Mine That Bird. Its not the time to argue about standards and rules, etc. If you want to survive fille up the rosters with people who want to play and reap the benefits of surviving.

That's too bad, it sounded like a great team til I realized who would be tending the nets. They'll make the playoffs but then it'll be a quick first round down in flames ;)

That's perfectly acceptable to me as I too could retract my retirement papers and continue playing while in school ;) I'm not sure how old people make the game "less legitimate" but that's just me on the outside looking in :p
