Thanks to a common opponent throwing in the towel on tomorrow's games, LU and UMSL will meet for the fourth time this season tomorrow (Sunday) at 11 AM CST.

UMSL will have another opportunity to turn this matchup into more of an actual rivalry, while LU is trying to prove they're still the undisputed king.

Both teams were impressive today in racking up mercy-rule wins. Both teams also have a few guys out as we speak at St. Louis' famous Mardi Gras celebration....we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

Here's some UMSL notes, just in case anyone's interested. Don't be mad at me for "hyping" UMSL...just don't read it.

UMSL's starter in net is not yet decided. I could go either way. Glad it's not my decision.

Adam Clarke is still recovering from a back injury for UMSL, and won't play this weekend, creating a clusterbleep of options on UMSL's defense where usually there's two solid consistent pairs (Clarke-Meade and Gwozdz-Tallo).

Almost all of our goals against Purdue today were backdoor redirections/tip-ins. It's been something we've harped on lately, and I was glad to see it. That's the way to score in roller hockey. Backdoor barrage, all day long.

We'll see what happens this time....hopefully it's another barnburner like the January 24 game.

http://www.greatplainshockey.com/game.php?game_id=78760 Looks like UMSL lost again. Two goal game until UMSL scored with 19 seconds left, so I guess the final is a bit deceiving.

Lindenwood took a 4-1 lead in the second period and ended up winning 5-4.

We had a brutal start. We took a penalty on the first shift of the game (the arm went up less than 30 seconds in), and they scored on the power play. LU had a 7-0 edge in shots on goal at one point (shots evened out after that).

Their power play was good. Ours got some good shots, but was shut down by Dave Thomas.

We had a hard time getting the puck to the net. LU blocks a LOT of shots.

Their top players played well, ours didn't. Travis Fudge was a force on both ends of the floor. Again.

Fatigue was a factor. There's some three, four, five, even SIX minute shifts on the chart.

Our defense got worn out. Not having Clarke meant that Meade and Tallo played about 28 and 26 minutes, respectively. That's too much.

However....firing a shot on goal in the final :10 that ties the score if it goes in (DT stopped it of course) is better than watching them roll up 11 goals on us. We'll take it and hopefully learn from it. They swept the season series 4-0, a loss is a loss, and I'm not calling it a "rivalry" again until we actually win one. But at least the games are ending with us firing to tie the score, rather than with LU yawning and passing the puck to their goalie.

4-0 sweep but all the games were close. i think talentwise your teams will be alot closer at nationals then they werelast year, in last years finals there didn't really seem to be a point besides your pps that you really were on the attack. i am hoping to see your 2 teams play eachother at some point at nationals, i think the d1 elite 8 are all gonna really close games this year. if you can compare picking tiger woods vs the field at a pga event to lindenwood vs the field at nationals this might be the first year the field might be the better bet.
