Hey voters! LSU (whom you voted #15) beat North Texas (whom you voted #9) by eight goals last weekend! http://www.schl.org/news_ap.cfm?NewsID=281

Last weekend, Arizona State beat UC Irvine twice and only lost to Long Beach State by one. They should be higher than 28th.

Connecticut beat a top-10 ranked Rhode Island team but could climb no higher than 29th?

Failing to notice these kinds of things should probably result in people losing their ballots because they're not paying attention. If I were in charge of the poll, I'd be pulling people's cards. :D

Just kidding, but come on folks....it takes about 20 minutes of research. Is that too much?

That's fair, but LSU did lose to UNT 12-6 earlier this year. UL played poorly all weekend in Denton, but only lost to UNT 7-5. Add that to the fact that UL beat LSU both times they played this year (big leads but let LSU comeback) and went 1-1 with UNT. Its obvious the top 3 in the SCHL are UNT, LSU and UL. Looking at their records against each other, UL is 3-1, UNT is 2-2 and LSU is 1-3.

I don't really agree with how you put the SCHL teams in that order. It was pretty obvious that UNT came off a high of beating UL and didn't play their best against LSU, that happens to the best of teams at times. I don't think you can go solely off of last weeks results.

Personally, if all of the teams are at their best, I would rank them 1. UL, 2. UNT, 3. LSU. UNT doesn't have the goal scoring of the others, but have great goaltending. LSU can match anyone in scoring but have the worst goaltending of the 3. I'm a homer, but UL is the most well rounded of the 3. Either way it goes, the playoffs and matchup of UNT vs LSU (presumably) in the semis will be great.

This may be off the wall but hear me out.
FSU lost to LSU 10-4
FSU lost to FAU 12-4
When FAU played UCF they lost 4-3
A little out of the box, but I am just trying to get some SECRHL love onto the boards for UCF. Then you can make the case that UF and FIU have all played each other tough this year

i would bump colorado state and arizona state up a bit but thats a pretty good top 20. remind me are there 20 or 24 d1 teams going to nationals this year? those 20 right there would make some solid pool play i could see maybe 3 pools at max having teams go unbeaten and as little as 1 getting through rr unscathed

How is Central Florida ranked ahead of Penn State, when PSU beat them fairly easily?

With our SlammHockey Rankings, they are computer generated based on wins, losses, ties, strength of schedule, goals for, goals against, etc., so with Penn State losing 10 games this season as opposed to Central Florida only losing 5 that is why they are ranked ahead of them in the Computer Generated SlammHockey poll.

As far as the IP Poll, we have members of the inline hockey community from around the country ranking these teams, and I am sure that this might have a strength factor in their minds as well. It would be like if Lindenwood lost to Mizzou, Mizzou isn't going to jump Lindenwood in anyone's polls.

Hopefully this helps from our standpoint.

I know these rankings are supposed to be a good thing. But at least get some one who knows what they are doing.

J lambert seems to be on the right track. These Slamm hockey people, possibly could be clueless.

And I dont think it would matter who beats Lindenwood, they will still be #`1 because obviously it would be an upset, and wouldnt be likely to happen again.

While I have not seen UCF play, they lost to a very weak Michigan team. Also lost to PSU, who is not even in the top 4 in ECRHA.. and, they just lost to Florida Int'l, who I have never heard of. Also, they got smoked by Buffalo.

I think any one with some common sense would agree, UCF is not a top 10 team.

I think you could take the majority of teams in the WCRHL, and ECRHA and they would be much better than UCF. UCF plays in a very weak south conference. No good teams to play against.


But.. keep working, maybe you guys will get it together soon.

College ranking polls are usually a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately type thing where recent head to head matchups count for a lot. It's not who you think will be there at the end. That's why LSU jumps UNT this week IMO, and it's why North Carolina hasn't been a wire-to-wire #1 in basketball even though most people believe they're easily the best team and probably the strongest national title favorite in years.

As far as the #1 spot...if Michigan State had beaten Lindenwood in Pittsburgh, Michigan State should be #1 unless/until they lose a game. If Lindenwood loses this week and UMSL wins their games, UMSL should be #1 next week (however, if Rutgers goes unbeaten this weekend and Lindenwood loses maybe they jump to #1). If Lindenwood and UMSL both lose this weekend and Rutgers wins the ECRHA, Rutgers should be #1. If Lindenwood and UMSL lose and Rutgers doesn't win, Long Beach or Michigan State should be #1.

The #1 team is required to win to retain their spot, no matter how heavily favored they are to be #1 at the end. That's how college polls usually work.

Yea I get where you are coming from. Polls don't tell us who is the best overall team in the nation, just who is playing the best at the time. Kinda like the team that wins the Super Bowl isn't necessarily the best team in the league, they were just the hottest team at the end of the year.

Still in the SCHL, one of your top 2 teams will not make the finals because they are 2nd and 3rd. So, by all means, expect another shuffle.
