I'm looking over the schedule now

Arizona State beat UC Irvine 9-6
San Diego State beat Arizona State 9-7

Looks like El Camino forfeited to both Long Beach and San Diego State

Long Beach finishing strong. Beat UC Irvine and Arizona State their last 2 games. 4-0 on the day.

It was a great day for hockey yesterday.

It's Sunday morning before the games.

El Camino forfeited the weekend, giving much needed wins (but not much goal differential) to the teams that needed it.

In DI - San Diego State and Arizona State are making a playoff push...hard. Arizona State is in, sitting 1 point ahead of Cal Poly SLO and San Diego State who are tied for the final playoff spot. If SDSU loses both games, it will come down to goal differential between them and SLO, since the teams would have the same record, number of wins, and split the head to head series.

More DI - Long Beach clinched the #1 seed for Regionals, pitting them against #4 UNLV and #6 TBD in round robin. More importantly, Long Beach will get the 2nd WCRHL bid to Nationals, should they not win the Regional Championship. #2 and #3 belong to UCSB and UC Irvine, and they will play the #5 team, TBD.

More DI - These games were great, and intense! Long Beach's 4 wins were 7-3, 1-0 forfeit, 9-7 and 6-5. Very close, competitive games.

DII - Cal Poly Pomona has made a strong push, and currently sits in a 4 way tie for the last 3 playoff spots. The winner of their game against USC this morning will get a spot at Regionals, the loser will sit in a 3-way tie for the last 2 playoff spots. A tie would get them both in and we would have a tiebreaker for the last spot between University of San Diego and UC Santa Cruz.

More DII - UC San Diego is the #1, losing 1 game this year against a great Saddleback College team, WCRHL's JC rep to Nationals. No other seed in DII is locked up at this point.

JC - Saddleback College came out for 2 very competitive games. They beat UC San Diego 7-3 but lost to Arizona State 5-4. Both games were very competitive.

B - All spots for Regionals are locked up. #1 UCSB Gold, #4 UCSB Blue and #6 UC San Diego B sit in Pool A, while #2 and #3 Arizona State B and Saddleback B sit with Cal Poly SLO B in Pool B.

Standings, updated with tiebreakers will be posted on WCRHL.com by Monday morning. Check back then to see who's in!

i believe if a team forfeits it should be punished and instead of 1-0 loss it should count as a mercy 10-0. Teams can basically if they think they are gonna lose anyways and making a playoff push just forfeit to keep their goal differential down.

edit - Also, looking over the standings, it looks like SDSU has to win or tie because they will lose the tie-breaker to SLO if its goal differential. SDSU is 89-91 (-2) and SLO is 117-120 (-3). Even if they forfeit or lose both 1-0 that puts them at -4.

Brennan can you please verify, for tie breakers, head to head, and then goes Goal Differential, then Goals Against? is this only for the west or for the whole NCRHA?

What happened to Irvine? Their only win this weekend was via forfeit

UC Irvine struggled this weekend because they were plagued with a short bench. 2 of their fowards did not attend the weekend so they played with only four of their D1 players. But they did play some really competative games against all the teams. The Long Beach game came down to the last 3 minutes with a tie game.

ok makes sense. So it looks like out west its

#1. Long Beach
#2. UC Irvine
#3. UC Santa Barbara
#4. UNLV
#5. ASU
#6. SDSU

Clever Name you are correct about seeds 1-6 in DI.

An email will go out by Monday night to WCRHL teams in all divisions with information regarding Regionals.

The tiebreakers that have been posted are for WCRHL. NCRHA does not have tiebreakers, because all seeding at Nationals is by seeding committee. And I am not aware of the tiebreakers for the other NCRHA Member Organizations. They may skip goal differential, not mention PIM, etc.

For WCRHL it is Points (obviously that is where the tie lies), Wins (teams may have the same number of points but more wins that the other), Head to Head, Goal Differential, Goals Against, Goals For, Least PIM, Coin Toss.

Before any seeds are announced, the WCRHL will be going through the games to verify correct game stats (we had a data entry problem due to an internet connection issue this morning), and we will notify all teams via email once that is checked out.

Yeah this is the basic break down of who made regionals. It's going to be really interesting how this one unfolds. The teams in D1 out west are so close it's amazing. And now that SDSU got in it is going to make for an interesting finish. They played really good all weekend except for a mental break down against Long Beach, where SDSU took alot of dumb penalties, but they got a legit chance to win.

It's going to be interesting...

Yeah SDSU managed to take a lot of unnecessary penalties all weekend, Long Beach managed to capitalize on them their first game scoring five power play goals in their first game

After this weekend, I definitely think it'd be ridiculous if there's not at least 5 teams from the WCRHL at nationals. I even think 6 should make it. The 6 teams that made regionals are incredibly even and I wouldn't be surprised by any team winning it.

While I don't think it would be ridiculous, I think it would be highly surprising if there was not as well. There is not one region in the country that has as many stellar DI teams as the West. The East is right behind them, but It's hard to argue for the 6th best East team over the 6th best west team.

Apparently ASU got their players back, plus one of their top guys who wasn't playing all season. That'll shake some things up. The pools should work out nicely with close games all around.

Pool A:
Long Beach State
UNLV
SDSU

Pool B:
UCI
UCSB
ASU

Anybody have any predictions? Long Beach is the team to beat right now. They're on a 11gm winning streak, but like alex said, I think it's anyone's tourny.

We have everyone back except Long Duong who was our top scorer up until he broke his wrist in December. And I agree if anyone is the team to beat it's Long Beach, but it won't be easy. Long Beach and UNLV is always a very close game.

Don't forget the UCI and LB rivalry. UCI beat them twice with a full team (which is their 6 D1 players) and lost in a very close entertaining game last weekend with only 4 of their D1 players. That game came down to the wire. It was tied with 4 minutes left when UCI made a mental mistake and gave up a breakaway. I think we will see this rematch in the championship game.........
