I was just listening to This week in the AIHL, great show by the way guys, and it appears as though the AIHL finals will be at the same time a Torhs Pro is going.

This has potential to be a very interesting conflict for some of the AIHL teams. Teams like Pama and Garden State, to name a few, have guys who play both.

In the event of a conflict what would teams do?

I actually brought this up about a week ago on another thread and got no response. I think torhs may have made a huge mistake with their schedule but I guess we will just have to wait and see

I agree that this could be a huge problem for some of the teams going to Torhs. I am not sure when the dates are for men's either but I know that would be a problem for a few other teams who can potentially make it to the finals.

Which org. would move their schedule in order to solve this problem?

AIHL FINALS dates were set back before the season started.

come on ray pay attention ;)

like southcyclone said, dates were set a while ago for AIHL

Torhs released on top of them. could prove to be costly. we will see.

Torhs has the better location in florida... but after playing a full season in AIHL i cant see teams missing the finals. I know i wouldnt want to work all season and not show up.

AIHL Finals: 6/30-7/2 (Feasterville, PA)

Torhs Pro I and II: 6/29-7/1 (Palm Beach, FL)

Mens wont be affected, the block dates for Torhs are either before it or after

Which one will they go to? I'm guessing the one with tens of thousands of dollars in prize money and a higher level of competition. Not intended as a diss on the AIHL...just the truth.

first off, no one has even made it that far.. so it's all speculation.

second, hypothetically say the wolves and pama both make the finals, but chose to go to torhs instead to play for the money. That would be a disaster for the league and also both teams would be banned from the league i would guess.

Of course anyone would rather go to florida for 4-5 days then feasterville and play for money, BUT, teams have commitments to the league.

alex, do you really think teams would get all the way to the finals, then skip them?

I think key players will. It happened in PIHA 2 years ago, Southside Snipers best players were all gone for Team USA or something like that and didn't go to the league finals. And there was actually some money up for grabs in PIHA, there isn't here.

Sure it'd be a disaster for the league but it's just seems unrealistic to me to think all players would choose AIHL Finals over TORHS pro because they feel they have a committment to the league. You answered it yourself, "anyone would rather go to florida for 4-5 days then feasterville and play for money."

I really don't care who does or does not skip AIHL Finals, my team won't be there, I won't have the decision to make between the two, it doesn't matter to me but it seems fairly obvious what people's decision will be if they're put in that situation.

I know this is a pro thread, but I will add this as it is in the same vein. AAU's International or Team USA divisions for 14u, 16u, 18u, and 21u start July 6th the day after Torhs ends. That forces those players who have been chosen and committed to those Team USA teams to travel from Florida overnight to Philly as their blocks for Torhs are the 2nd-5th of July in Peewee, Bantam, Midget and Junior AAA. I realize it is not a direct overlap like the Pro's block vs AIHL Finals block; but it is a hardship on those younger players and their parents to have to travel overnight to Philly from Lake Worth if they make the final day at Torhs.

Very poor scheduling by Torhs, since as we all know AAU's blocks have been out for many, many moons. I am sure they have their reasons, but it will limit their drawing power once again. As Torhs is part of the RHA, which is proclaiming everywhere they can their desire to build the sport and to work together to make it possible to participate wherever a person wants to spend their money; this seems contradictory on Torhs part.
