Sorry it took a few days...its called recovery - After the experience itself, I needed to sleep, not to mention the real jobs we all have, plus catch up with real life.
I enjoyed the company of a bunch of old friends on Sunday afternoon and night. Playing golf is an interesting way to catch up with friends. Not playing in almost two years had its down falls, but my 40 foot chip over a hill into the cup was the highlight of the round. Sunday evenings reception was a great way to chat with folks I have known on the internet for years and finally got to meet face to face. We all have seemed to come to the same conclusions...While most of us play "both sides" we are all in this to make the sport better. This is what was trying to be accomplished.
AAU had its annual meetings and spoke about the AIHL, its programs, scholastic hockey and potetial for the World University games to promote the sport more for the Olympics to see about moving forward with that.
It was great to Rob Chornumud and the Labeda family - Check out there new wheels!! Speaking of wheels, Michael Hunt was in town with Rink Rat, and he was doing commercials all weekend...interesting. RBK and Warrior had nice set-ups, and although Mission scaled down a bit from last year, they had a very professional looking booth and it was great to see Sean, Joe and Dave. Tour was in a different spot this year and its always good to see big Eddie the tour guy - though he was never around to the booth...its was good to see Chad, Brad and even CJ was there with Charley!!
Nabeel has released the new Revision skate - looks awesome
Sprung was in town and looked to push their product further on the market -- Check it out...I have seen so many products out there and this has one of those designs that actually make sense - After speaking with Keith, they are working toward a design with bigger wheels that WILL make you faster...not designs with moving parts and the same size wheels - so heads up soon
Nic Johannes from Icecourt was helping to promote SpeedHockey again with Alex Bellheumer (founder of RHI) - I spoke with them at length, and they are shooting for later 2009, with more test runs being done this year and they are going with a tighter width and making things a bit longer, similar to a tennis court - The game will still be 3 on 3 and have the nets in the glass so there is no hiding and you need to move the puck - They have a TV contract in place....stay tuned there
Richard Graham was in attendance, somewhere....He was at the reception, then...I think he heard that was only time for free food!!
Theres a lot of folks that Im forgeting - and Hi to everyone again out there - It was great and come check it out next year
