Thats why i wanted to see the rosters....
that summer event, the boston team had maybe one or two guys from boston....
could it be that the MLRH threw together some teams and just named them based on the proposed cities?

Most of the "Boston" team from this summer was from North Jersey, The "Chicago" team was mostly Philly/Harrisburg guys.

i think the chicago team was actually a group of guys that play as the Mullisia in tourneys here in chicago. And are based out of palatine illinois. I could be wrong.

The guys who filled in for the Boston team that were from Jersey were not even supposed to play in that division, they went down just to play in the co-ed division.

Newell,
The Chicago Roller Snakes from the summer Euro Cup event were all players from the Philly area with a myself from York, PA area, and a couple others from the DC and Williamsburg, VA area.
The guys up at the even this past weekend... different story.

Frank frank, thanks for clearin that up, I know I was speaking to some guys out here and they were talkin about how they had played. Funny though, that the "chicago" roller snakes aren't from anywhere near chicago. Ha ha,, I am still trying to figure out the mlrh. It is all very confusing.

Yeah, how will that work out this summer? Will the Chicago team play out of Philly where most of their players are from, or is it gonna be Chicago? I think they are trying to come off bigger than they really are, a marketing scheme of sorts. What about this Floria team? Are they really out of Florida or will it be a bunch or guys from New York and Massachusetts? Cause I'm telling ya, guys from Manhattan are not going to want to take the road trip down south for their HOME games. Trying to look bigger and better than they are, it looks better than saying you have six teams in the Northeast (Boston and New York). Saying you have teams throughout the country and that they travel, that's a good way to market the league.

Hey AJ,
I completely understand your point. And I know I'm gonna open up a whole new can of worms here, but here I go...
The players that play on the various NHL teams... are they all from their team's city? Not really. Let's not turn this into a debate about "real pro hockey" vs this stuff. I'm just saying if a city/team wants to pick up players from other regions to play for them, I don't see the difference. Most of us guys are just happy to play... we really don't care what you call us or what city we're supposedly from. You can call us the Anchorage Flamingos and we're probably still gonna play even if we're from Missouri or Alabama or Pennsylvania. Ya know?
I understand that those teams at these events are kind of expected to be from the region the team is "from", but lets be honest... that's not gonna happen, especially with PIHA and AIHL going on right now. Maybe over the summer they'll have better odds with that, but who knows.
MLRH is a check roller hockey league... the only of it's kind right now. It's a change of pace from the non-check stuff. It's breath of fresh air to me... I look foward to skating in an event at some point here.
Just my 2cents...

But isn't the ultimate goal to have the league functional by the summer. Having home and away games and playing for your team. Until players are paid to play, I seriously doubt they will consider relocating to play their home games. Full time travel is a bit ridiculous.

I completely agree with ya... I'm just saying that you shouldn't be surprised if you see faces from different towns playing for different city teams.
And to be truthful, I'm not real sure if we really are gonna see a single game event... from what's out there, it looks like they'll be little festival type deals. Not a terrible way to roll, and I could be mistaken. We won't see a full MLRH like we saw back in 2001-2003 for a long while to come.

I think holding these festivals are a great idea to get things going again and no offense to Bill and Berky, but two guys running the whole never really cut it - I love Bill to death, but he needs a cut throat guy to make decisions and get things done next to the current staff
What kind of business propsal is he giving to these "Proposed cities" - I mean I hope he doesnt go single entity again...For this to go full pro again, you are talking - with these cities - a $100,000 budget, unless you can get your rink time free and not provide too much housing for guys...either way there are so many scenarios and Id invest in a heart beat if we were going with a local facility
Main points are you need staffs, marketing and more publicity. You need each team to have a GM/Coach that gets paid $25,000 or better that will run the team to the T, hire a commision based local work force, get into the towns and surrounding areas - saying youll do something on a website is good, put it on IHC...we're getting better - but contact every organization within 100 miles of each proposed city - work with the local rink to host a tournament on that weekend and try to make money off of that - sell shirts and hats, get a mascot to local appearances at malls and store openings
I could go on...but that would take up a few pages
Frank - I miss the old MLRH AAA...the Bullet/Firebird games were great...I was just telling that Jim Kello story the other day of him chasing down Gallo while the refs were chasing him after what he thought was a low hit the second time...god i miss that

Just curious, but I read in a press release for MLRH that thier tour was going to have a stop in St. Louis. I can't find anything on their website that says where or when that will be. As a PIHA Gm, I would like to see how those games are. Does any one know where to find out dates for these games?

Just keep watching the website, the released the schedule for Grand Rapids a few days in advance for the broadcasts. I watched a few games that weekend and it stacks up pretty well to PIHA, but is a bit slower at times.
