View Full Version : Quoting problem, how to avoid...

I just noticed there is a quoting problem going on, all started when one person quotes incorrectly. It is being caused by the beginning of a quote starting like this:
[quote=John Doe;54321][quote=John Smith;12345]
This makes the person quoted appear to be someone different. Make sure that the only name showing is the person you are actually quoting, like so:
[quote=AJ Barnett;31415]
Just thought I'd help out by throwing that out there.

It's not Mikes fault here, its just people over bracketing their quoting so the message turns out:
[quote=Bobby Orr;96585]..............................
and then someone quotes it:
..............................
See the quote was intended to be by Bobby Orr (John Doe was to boring, this is hockey) but this [quote=AJ Barnett;31415] was before [quote=Bobby Orr;96585] so it appeared that I said it.

For a man that had 915 points (that's an estimate, I cant remember the actual number) at retirement, I think he would be willing to spare me some of his periods.
All I'm trying to do is make sure that people aren't putting words in other peoples mouths by incorrectly inserting the name in the quote box. I noticed it happen to me in a certain thread, and wanted things fixed for things I did not say.

Hey, everyone appreciates it, I'm sure... I was just making jokes, as there is far too little humor on this MB these days...
Seriously though, I hadn't seen the connection at first, and from a software guy... good catch ;)
