View Full Version : Regional Opinion

Give your opinion on the top four teams from each region. Rate your own region first and if you feel you have enough knowledge about a different region, lay your opinion out there. This is just a conversational topic in response to the rankings thread.
Proof, I feel, that the West is the deepest region is that it's real hard to just pick 4 teams here...I'd say UC Irvine, UNLV, Arizona State, and Long Beach State. And you honestly cannot, at this point, put them in any order because all 4 of those teams have won and lost in games amongst each other.
It may seem ridiculous to leave out UC Santa Barbara who has the best record in the West...they're definitely right there and if they won regionals I wouldn't be surprised, but I think the other 4 teams are slightly better.

The west is definately deep. Irvine, LB, ASU, UNLV, CSUSB. I know there a JC but Saddleback may be the best out west. SDSU gaines about 8-9 second semester players and will have a very competitive team that had a great game vs irvine last year. Anyone can beat anyone on a given day it seems this season

As far as ecrha d2 goes, it looks like neumann has gotten back on track beating west chester 9-3 last weekend, and have won 9 straight after a 1-2 start to the season. West chester is really good too with rowan right there as well. Brockport is the only undefeated team left in d2. Regionals should be very good

In GPCIHL DII, Truman State and Missouri State tied for the fourth or fifth time in a row when they met in the first semester, but Missouri State is a different team when they have Salman Shah (8 goals, 12 points in 4 games).
Pete Chilcutt, one of their top scorers the past two years (and the god of fantasy hockey with a 75-16-17 record so far this season) should return from his ACL injury in the second semester, so they should be the odds-on favorite to take DII in the Great Plains.
However, Truman has the best goalie in the conference (all divisions), so I wouldn't count them out.

Missouri state's goalie is better than Trumans. Marky Landgrader is a big game player

Maybe, if he gets back into shape. I'll still take Pecher.

Dont get me wrong, Pecher is good and youre right, Landgrader needs to see more rink time, but by time regionals come, he will be a gamer. I think he has like 4 or 5 Nationals Championships in platinum divisions

Yes, I know. I also believe that if given a similar opportunity, Pecher would likely accomplish similar things. We'll see what happens -- maybe another 2-1 overtime decision in the GP DII championship game?

i'd be okay with that result. i'm sick of tying truman. three of the last four have been ties.

The WCRHL DI is deep all around like everyone is saying. Any of the top 6 can beat each other on any given day. And form what I'm understanding, SDSU will be picking up some key players this semester. Then Saddleback JC is knocking off the DI teams as well. For now I'd say that the top 5 DI are as follows (and the top 3 are easily interchangeable, depends on the day):
1) Long Beach (when they actually play well)
2) UNLV
3) ASU (when they have their full team they'll be even better than now)
4) Irvine
5) UC Santa Barbara (over Cal Poly San Luis Obispo just because they finish their games whereas, SLO has issues late in the game)
What's the opinion for the East Coast, MidWest, and South East? I'm interested in getting the opinion for those regions.

Isn't it five straight regulation ties? That's just amazing.

I think with Shah we should have an advantage over Truman, but they do come out every game tough and they never let up. It should be interesting to watch us play each other again. As for SIUE, i cannot wait until they get either one of us (Truman or MO State) in a game and show how "good" they really are. Anyone know when the rest of the scheduling will be done?

I have heard nothing (I'm the one who enters the schedule online when I get it from Tom F).
Speaking of SIUE, my brother played ice with Jason Walker last night and says he is definitely the real deal.

Yeah Walker was insane. He was toying with a couple of Jr. Blues players. He probably had 5 of our 7 goals. I didn't believe the stats until Sunday night. Now I do. I am going to watch their next game for sure.

I have to agree with Hiigh_Stick on ranking the MCRHL's teams.
I think this year MSU is in a class of their own, with Ohio State being not too far behind. Grand Valley is definitely 3rd best, but they are D2. Eastern Michigan will most likely have a completely different team come second semester, and Michigan is decent.

MCRHL D1:
1) MSU
2) OSU (Tie)
2) Michigan (Tie)
4) Eastern Michigan
5) Western Michigan
6) Purdue
MSU is good. We'll see between Ohio State and Michigan at the next event, although it's a long season.
Eastern, who knows anymore between first and second semester. They could show up with the Tour Mudcats in January.
Western and Purdue both have playmakers, but sometimes have trouble putting it together for a full 36 minutes.

i think they might be in for a rough 2nd half of the season. i could see them losing six of ten.
also, i think it's really cool that tampa and grand valley are coming to st louis for a weekend of games. i'm looking forward to playing grand valley again. hopefully we will stay out of the penalty box this time.

Who are they playing?
GP DII
1. SIUE
2. Truman
3. MO St
4: I don't think there has been enough games to fill this in for sure.
I could see any of those 3 flip flopping at any point.

It has been 4 straingt ties between Truman and MO. State. I am not going to compare goalies. I have the utmost respect for Pecher and Truman and won't argue that our goalie is better or worse. However, and not to belittle what has transpired to date, Truman is in somewhat of a rebuilding year. We have far too many players for one team and have played a lot of our younger players in the first semester. We now have the luxury of having 2 Lindenwood B players transferring in, another player whose name I will not mention, Chilcutt coming back from his ACL, and options with ice hockey players. As a practical matter all of these people will not be on the team, other than Chilcutt is guaranteed his spot. When we come to regionals and nationals we are going to have quite a deep bench of highly skilled players. I would like nothing more than to see Truman go all of the way as well. SIU-E may well be a good team. For the time being I would note the teams they have played have a combined record or 16-34-1, they have not played Missouri State nor Truman, nor any division I team.

Train now you listen and you listen good. We know about your penalties and leftist leanings, but it isnt going to pass muster in this league train. You start out slow bringing up passive talk about the second half, but it leads to worse things. Next thing you know you are going to be posting on here and ripping other teams, espoussing final scores, and making up stories just to stir up the remains of the day. No train its a long lonely life, but you better get it straightened out right now if you want to work on the force. I am surprised you don't want to scrimmage the LAPD
